Wear ratings/Bridgestone Potenza RE-11: your expierence
I'm starting to shop for new tires to compliment my newly acquired Enkei 92's, and wear ratings have me thinking. The car is my summer DD, with autocrossing and driving reasonably spirited on my treks to work, and my current tires didn't last more than 15,000 miles. Currently I'm running some 185/70R13 BFG all season radials (I think that they just say All Season on the sidewalls). Treadwear of 400, temp. A, M/S, etc. etc. Basic shitty all seasons that came on the car when I bought it.
I'm looking at a 205/50R15 tire to fit on my 15x7 wheels, and was wondering how long people's tires have lasted, and what kind of driving style they have. I am currently leaning toward the Bridgestone Potenza RE-11: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes 180 Treadwear rating. Anyone have experience with them? |
No experience, but there are a bunch of reviews on the tire rack site with people who state 10,000 to 15,000 miles use. That doesnt mean they were completely used up at that point of course :) One review sounds like the owner got around 15k miles out of them.
Only thing I don't like about the line of B-stone tires...... in general they are *always* two to three pounds heavier than similar performing tires. Has to do with their construction I suppose. If you're looking at the RE-11s, also consider the Dunlop Star Specs. They're shown as 'pending' in that size so should be released soon I'd imagine. |
screw bridgestone and their gay prices. just get star specs for wet/dry, or XS for dry only (slightly cheaper, but shittier in the wet).
cheapest/fastest tires. |
+1 for the kumho xs's in the dry. They pwn themselves in the wet or cold temps though.

I was thinking about the XS's, but after reading that review (and talking to the people that did it), I'm going to stay away from the XS's as this is for my summer DD. |
