Volks Racing GTU 18x10 offset
guys im gonna purchase a full set of 18x10's volk racing GTU's
car has adjustable coilovers and im not running bigger brakes... I want as much lip as possible anyone know which offset i should go with? here are my choices for 18x10's (A) super high type offset--> +17 +23 +29 (B) high type offset--> +12 +24 +31 +39 (C) med type offset--> +13 +25 +38 +44 +50 which one? thanks |
I have never heard of a GT-U Volk wheel. And your offsets don't match any of the GT series offset values. Where are you getting that data?
In any case, for an 18x10 in the rear, you should use +44 or +50 (+50 is best). For 18x10 in the front, you have to use +50 with aftermarket 2-1/2" coil-overs. Look in the archive, this question has been asked a hundred times. Lots of good stuff in the archive. |

If I can keep my itchy 'wallet finger' steady, I'm waiting for these. April was the release date if what I heard is true. 18X10 +50 is really all you can do all four wheels (stock fenders), but keep in mind that the 18X10 +50 is a medium caliper clearance center, and Volk officially does not recommend anything but a high clearance center for the FD front brakes. There is someone here that has tried medium center GTNs on the front though, and reported it to fit with what I believe to be stock FD brakes. FWIW, I don't know why Volk groups the FD with the Supra Turbo and 3000GT VR4 in the 'high clearance center' group, as the stock FD (US 93-95) has lots of room compared to those two. :) |
I'm waiting for these guys to. Let me know what kind of pricing you're getting and I'm sure your club pricing should be better on teh volks. I will call right now and see when preorders can be placed.
I have not seen any offset information indicated on the Japan site. Peace, Rishie |
Dclin,
yeah the medium center should fit +50... what do you think about the +44 with 265/35's ??? we the +44's i would get a 3" lip whereas the +50's would have a 2.75" lip ] |

I'll try again later when the Rx7 Forum gets fixed or my phot hosting service gets fixed. Meanwhiles, imagine a wheel/tire sticking out a little over 1/4". :) 265/35 is a narrower tire of course (though generally 1/4 to 1/2 taller), but I doubt you'd be successful with the combo. Like I said, Volk officially recommends only a high clearance center (which the 18X10 +50 is not) and my comments should not be taken as an endorsement.;) It's just an extra 1/4" of lip, and I'd go with fit over aesthetics. You'll be cursing yourself everytime you hit a bump and it rubs against the fender edge. |

*edit from my post above* 265/35 is a narrower tire of course (though generally 1/4 to 1/2 inch taller), but I doubt you'd be successful with the combo. |

dclin, i'm pretty sure they're GT-U's. as far as offsets go, only place that i've seen them thus far is in the updated volk brochure. by the way, according to the brochure, the high type offsets are actually as follows:
+12, +24, +30, +37 all the other offsets listed are correct though:) |
