Toyo Proxes R888
Anybody tried these on any make/model of car?
http://www.toyo.com/docs/tires/tires...category=sport They look pretty sick, and pricey. Just trying to see if anybody has heard some reviews on them. Thanks, Aaron. |
I would still go for the Advan AO48's instead.

The toyo is alot cheaper. The Toyo's are half the price of the a048r, atleast the places I've checked.
I will be mounting these on my miata, when summer comes. |
Looks like about $200 ish a tire in 17 inch size at Frisby tire, they could be cheaper elsewhere but that was the only place I looked.
Also,275/40 sizes are due out 1st quarter 08. |

Introducing the Nitto NT-01, the pinnacle of Nitto Tires technical excellence. The NT-01 is a D.O.T. approved competition radial with an asymmetrical, non-directional tread pattern optimized for dry racing conditions. Beginning with a tread depth of 6/32", the NT-01 can be shaved to 4/32" to reveal a "slick" tread surface with two circumferential tread grooves. The NT-01 features a racing-inspired tread compound formulated for on-track performance to deliver extreme cornering power for fast and consistent track times.

Yea, I would prefer those over the R888's at the moment (price per performance). I instructed a Supra last year at the track who was running the NT01's. Damn sticky tire, but they didn't seem to have a lot sizes the last time I checked them out. Hopefully that has changed in the last few months.

IMO - The RA-1 and NT01 are in the same class. They both have roughly the same performance but have different tread & carcass design which results in a different 'feel'. Although the NT01 dosn't have the 'squirm' of the RA1, they are pretty similar laptime wise. The RA1 is better in the rain (both shaved and unshaven), but has a little more squirm to it -but not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. The RA1 has a very flat slip angle to grip characteristic. As you overcome the limits of the tire, it dosn't snap on you but gradually and very predictably breaks traction into a very predictable slide. The NT01 - to a less degree.
The A048 is a little better (but not much) than the two previously mentioned, handles more like a true racing slick with a more abrupt break-away, but isn't leaps and bounds over the RA1 or NT01. The R888 is very similar and I would put it on par if not slightly better. The R888 also has a more abrupt break-away but has a little more peak grip than NT01, RA-1 and maybe (barely) more than the A048. $0.02 |
