TOYO proxes defy the laws of physics
I just thought i would post up how impressed i am with these tires. I have posted in the past how sticky they are in the dry..amazing btw. But yesterday was the first time i drove on them in the rain...amazing again.
I literally cant explain how great these tires are. My FD makes ~350 rwhp and these things hold traction. I went from breaking loose in second gear when the secondary came on with my old stock bridgestones to hardly being able to chirp second. I am getting great traction off the line and much better more predictable traction when on the gas thru corners. Go buy a set. Very impressive! |
Toyo Proxes... Which one?
T1-S, FZ4, RA-1, TPT, S/T, Z1. I use the RA-1 for the track, and like them. Right now with low tread depth they're absolutely evil in the rain. They were okay at full tread depth. Also remember that when making comparisons to your old tires that new rubber is much better than old. The older rubber gets hard and the difference is more apparent on wet roads. Mark |

I run the Toyos as well.

I was using Pole Postion S0-2's before but in stock sizes. The Toyo T1-S are 265/40 and 245/40 that I use now. They do hold better but not sure if its the tire or the fact of being bigger (wider). Never drive mine in the rain but dry weather driving it is much harder to smoke 2nd gear. Like you said just a little chirp..

I just got the Toyo T1-S and have noticed a slight increase in road noise at highway speed - it's like a high pitched hum. Has anyone else encountered this?
|
Who cares, the tires kick butt! I have a set of these on my Volks too!
|
Run T1S's and they're shaved but would like to be able to afford a set of RA's one of these days.
|
lol. RA's would be nice but pricey as hell. The road noise won't get any better with age. I'm pretty sure of that with the Toyo tread pattern. However they work phenomenal in wet and dry. I'm very happy. Plus they're so frikin' light.

FWIW, I bought RA-1s in a 245/45R16 for the stock FD wheels. Price was under $150 per wheel (tire, valve, mount, balance, tax, etc.). That was from a place in Los Angeles-- I didn't know Rishie back then, or I would have called him first...
