Tokico Illumina After 10 Years and about 25k miles

They guarantee the shocks but not the bushings on the shocks. That is what they told me.
They were used with Ground Control coilovers with 550/400 lbs equal 8/7.1 kg front to rear. Shock setting set at 1. |
This is probably what's happening to my car. I have Tokico Illuminas and Tien SS springs on for about 5 years now, more than 25k miles on them though. The last 3 months or so I noticed the car seems lower (the downpipe/midpipe connection randomly scrapes things now...I've never had a problem with clearance anywhere). Looks like my next mod after my tune will be Pettit Racing coilovers.

Yes this caused my car to drop lower. Having adjustable coilovers allowed me to compensate for this.
A freind has the same thing happend to his newer Tokicos but do to RB springs, he could not compensate for the bushings wearing out. |
I had to replace the ones on my Konis as well. It happens...
You ever think about what is inside the shock controlling the dampening? Oil. It's been in there 10 years on yours too. :) |

10 years is a long time for a highly cycled rubber bushing. OEM suspension bushings usually start looking the same after that time frame.
