Tires for 17x10 and 17x8.5 Fikse wheels
My Yoko A032R's are showing threads after less than 8K miles, now I need some new tires. I realize that tires are very important, but at the same time I am quite low on fundage right now, can people throw out some good tire choices? Mostly street driving with an occasional AutoX and perhaps even a track event or two. I don't really care much about ride quality or noise, mostly performance and price. Can I put smaller tires on the 10" rears? I have 274/40/17's rear and 235/40/17's front (some rubbing in front). I have GAB Supers with Racing Beat springs if that changes anything. I live in San Diego and try real hard to not drive in the rain so summer tires should be okay.
Thanx! -Jedon |
Yeah you can put smaller tires on the back if you want (255+ ... 235-245 if you're really daring) ... the problem with that is rolling on the sidewall if you don't always keep them well inflated or if you're autocrossing. The Parada Spec-IIs are really great from everything I've heard, but they don't make them big enough for our cars (you could stretch them onto the front if you wanted). I hope they come up with some wider sizes soon. The AVS ES100 wouldn't be a bad choice ... lots of sizes, pretty cheap, and the tread life seems to be pretty good.

SleepR1 should be chiming in on this thread...

Dude, you should be able to grab some good used tires with decent thread until you have fundage to get the right stuff...
|
Kinda hard to find used rubber in those sizes....
|
235/45-17 and 265/40-17. Check Tire Rack for those tire sizes, and select by price. The cheapest will show up first. I'm guessing Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 will show up followed by Sumitomos.

check eBAY
eBAY have gretat choice of use tires. any size too

Does anybody have much experience with used tires? Seems like a risky proposition? Plus shipping is quite costly isn't it?

Jedon,
Why not stick with the A032's? You already know what you will put up with in terms of roughness and droning... they are an excellent bang per buck choice. David |
Because
1. they didn't last long enough 2. I don't have $750 :) |
What about the YOKO Avs sport not a bad bang for the buck tire.
|
I was contemplating the Yokohama AVS ES100's or the Kumho MX's
|
Get the avs es100 jedon...I have those on my FD and Ilove them.
|
$123 x 2 + $105 x 2 = $456 not too bad. Thanx for the recomendation
