tires for 16x7" wheels??
 

So my wheels are gonna be here soon, I ordered some 16x7 black wheels...anyway...

My question is what size tire would be good for the front and rear?
Would it be worth going for the staggered look with wider in the rear and thinner in the front? Would that be functional for an N/A FC, which is being mildly modded? All Wheels are 7" wide.

Would 215 rears and 205 fronts be ok? Would it be worth it?
I think I'd be looking into 215/55/16 rears and 205/55/16 fronts.

Would those be alright, or would 215's all around be better? Or 205's? Should I look into different sidewall heights?

Basically, what's a good size for those wheels that would fit my 88 N/A FC, and provide superior handling. My previous wheels were 17x7.5" and were 215 wide, with a 45 sidewall. Handling was good.
I've got Eibach Springs and Tokico Shocks, so it's lowered around an inch.

I'm also interested in taking my car to the drag strip and I'd also like to start autocrossing.

IMO, going with very high quality 205/55 tires is your best bet.

What happened to your old wheels? The real best bet would be to get good street tires on the 16x7s and run some nice R-compounds on the 17x7.5s at the track.

A pricey proposition, I know.

right now im running 205/55/16 on my wheels, handling is great. 225/50/16 is a good size too.

I'm actually going to sell my old wheels. They were a little bit too bling bling for me... 17x7.5 CHROME 5 spoke "Spoon" wheels...they were probably around 40 lbs each :(

Plus the ride was really uncomofortable. I had Eagle F1 street tires on there, ZR compound, GREAT tires. But I wanted to go for some Black 16's, and I found a nice set for >$400

Having an extra 15-20 lbs of weight at the corners is something I'm willing to sacrafice...here's a pic.

I have 16x7+40 offset on mine with 205/55 in front and 225/50 in back.
I tightened up the rear sway bar (racing beat) a bit to dial out some of the understeer that was generated by less width in front. Now the handling is perfect for me. You'd have to drive like a total lunatic or hit an oil patch in the street to need more. It isn't even close to having any fitment issues. Just my two cents.

My wheels also have a +40 offset. I think I will go with the same tire setup, with the 225/50 rear and 205/55 front. Did you need spacers anywhere?
