Tire tires tires
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the Toyo Proxes T1-S tire at all? I am looking to get some new tires for my car ASAP and have been pleased with the Toyo Proxes FZ-4 that I used to have on my other rims. But how do the T1-S stack up?
Or does anyone have any other suggestions for a good tire? I am not looking to spend a shit load, just need some new tires cause mine are totally toast, only a bit left till they become illegal. I also may not be keeping these rims so don't wanna spend a ton on tires only to get rid of them shortly after. Rim size is 17x7 and tires would be 225/45/17, wish I could wider on these rims but they are not wide enough. Thats why I may get rid of them shortly after, just got some other stuff to buy first before new rims. later -Justin |

No one has any suggestions for a fairly good cheap tire at all? Nothing amazing, just looking for something thats decent at worst for now. I know Toyo's are good for the price, any other brands out there that you get better then what you pay for? |

If you wanna go the cheap route, go with kumho ecsta supra's. They are cheap but you get what you pay for. They are bang for the buck though. I like them, but I'll probaby shell out for bridgestone potenza so-3 or something else next time.

I just got a set of Toyo T1-s but I haven't gotten an alignment yet so I'm waiting to give a qualified opinion.

If you are going to get new rims soon, buy them now, and get the tires you want. Buying new tires, only to discard them in the near future, seems like a bad idea.

What is your location? I have some 17x8 TSW's I'm thinking of selling. THey have shaved Toyo RA-1's on them with 235/17's. You need 2.5" coilovers for them to fit up front. I'm in San Francisco... don't feel like shipping them though. -Mark |
i have t1-s's and i love them. Very grippy, not noisy, a nice tire.

I use T1s for my street tire. 255/40/17 mounted on Fikse FM10 17x9 on all 4 corners. Running pettit's long-track alignment setup. Mainly used as a street tire, but they have seen several autocross and hpde's.
For street driving, it doesn't get much better than the T1s. Outstanding traction in the dry, and pretty amazing traction in wet (just watch out for standing water and snow). Stiff sidewall results in very sharp turn-in and quick responsiveness. Decently sized tread blocks, so it keeps it's grip even near the limits, yet they're pretty quiet around the street. They handle heat-cycling quite well, and retain their traction even after several track events. In my opinion, in terms of traction, they are about as close to an R-compound tire as you can get, without actually being one. Oh yeah, they're also one of the lightest tires on the market. Quality is amazing. Cost is high, but not nearly as high as other high-performance tires. Edit: I should also mention that the life of these baby's isn't that great (probably the only major drawback to this tire). But in my opinion, it's worth it.
