Tire choices street and track
 

Azenis 615,Toyo ra1,Nitto NT01 ?...or ?
I,m not looking for 25 thousand miles just the tire that will hook on the street and do a track day when I need to.

I have run the Toyo ra1 so I have a reference,I thought they were excellent and dont have a problem running them again,is there anything better anyone is using,thanks.

im partial to the bfg kdw 2 (the ones with squiggles on em). they grip great (wet and dry) and I loved them on the track and street

615's and happy here.

Toyo R888 would be the next logical choice if you want an R-compound and like the RA-1.

The Azenis are street tires and are a totally different class.

Is the R888 available now?
I wonder if is it a step up from the Ra1? or just marketing?

I did read it.I think he went with a street tire,I want a more focused tire.

12/19/2006-- Nitto Tire and Ralph Warren Win BMW CCA Club Racing Championship

Nitto Tire debuted its D.O.T.-approved road race radial, the NT01, in the 2006 BMW CCA Club Racing Series. The tire performed exceptionally well and Nitto’s sponsored driver, Ralph Warren, had the most class wins in BMW Club Racing in 2006. Outfitted with the NT01, Warren and the Nitto/Crevier BMW team were undefeated, breaking several class records at tracks that included Laguna Seca, Infineon and Pheonix International Raceways.

Nitto’s set out to build a road race radial that was optimized for dry road racing and utilized the most advanced technology. The NT01’s soft racing compound was specifically developed to provide traction without sacrificing consistency or durability. Combined with a large contact patch, the NT01 provides stability for lateral and longitudinal traction.

Nitto’s performance goals were realized in the 2006 BMW Club Racing series. Competing in the fastest class that requires D.O.T.-approved R-compound radials, the H-Prepared class, Nitto and Warren’s E46 BMW M3 took home more than 20 class wins. Warren also set six BMW Club Racing track records, making the NT01 BMW Club Racing’s fastest tire of its kind at those tracks. At the end of the season, the team took home the Pacific Regional Championship in the H-Prepared class and earned enough points to win the BMW North American Challenge trophy.

“We were very pleased with Ralph’s driving and the NT01’s performance,” stated John Wu, Staff Engineer at Nitto Tire. “The tire gave Ralph the stability, traction and speed he needed to consistently take home wins and records.”

“The NT01 is most consistent and tunable tire I’ve ever raced on” said driver, Ralph Warren. “The tires were fast and confidence-inspiring, regardless of track temperature or surface type.

Team Manager, Scott Cary, also felt the NT01s contributed to Warren’s success. “In racing, tires are the most critical variable. No matter how great the car may be, it can only carry the speed that the tires allow. The number of track records we were able to set this season, even more than all the wins, says everything about how well the NT01s really perform. We never felt a competitor on another brand ever had a tire advantage on our team.”
