thoughts and opinions on spring rates for autoX/drag..

ok, here is my set up.

i am going to buy a daily beater in a day or two and ol' jenna is going to be an all out fun car. it is now an S4 na but in the next few months i will be slowly putting in my S5 j-spec that stares at me everyday in the garage:) she will most likely remain on the jacks until it is all said and done.

specs for now.
235/40-17 front, 255/40-17 rear.
the car has 8" 300lbs GC coils front and and 6" 225lbs coils rear... it rides with AGX KYB's. every thing else is stock.

i was thinking a bigger anti-roll bar up front and one of those cheap stut braces off ebay.

i was also thinking about sending my coils back to GC and have them replaced with a pair of 6" coils up front because the 8" that i have now still sit at the stock hight, even when turned all the way down. the rear is fine as far as hight goes.

now, onto the important part. the spring rate i have now isn't harsh to me at all. remember, this will be an all out fun car. do you think i can go with a spring rate of 400 front and 275 rear? is that too much? anyone with experience?

i have considered bushings. yes, they are imortant. no, i can't do it now. yes, i want to do it.:)

thanks guys.

I have 400#/275# springs on my FC street car with the AGX's and c/c plates. K2RD.com kit. I do road race a few times a year and drive pretty hard on the street. I'm running Hawk HP+ pads and aside from the heavy dusting I like them a lot.

The springs I have are pretty stiff on uneven/bumpy road.. but are fine on nicely paved surfaces. Doing it again for a street car I would probably get 350/250 setup. Call Ground Control and ask them for a recommendation.

The best drag springs are worn out stockers on the cheap. I pulled 1.70 60ft times on Nittos with 178K mile stock SE suspension. You could go coilovers with a weaker spring than you currently have though for drag to optimize it I'm sure.

It will be near impossible to find a good AutoX/Drag suspension combo as they ask for different things from the car. If you want to drag then be sure to remove your front sway bar to aid in weight transfer.

Get the rear toe eliminator bushings. I added Energy Suspension polyeurathane bushings from suspensions.com. under $100 in parts.
