Thinking about some suspension changes
So! i really want to make the rx-7 handle like a go-kart.. and i noticed that my end links are bent and some parts are getting really rusted (was like that when i bought her)
So at the same time that i want it to handle great i want it to be visually WOWing. SO... a little overkill.. probably. I know i might be missing something but here are some changes i want to get over time. Ill do some searches on these in a second. |
Which generation car?
How are you using the car? DD, autox, track, street only? |
Its an FD
This car isn't my DD, it will be a mix of street and autox when all done.. maybe track... but maybe not. also not to interesting in doing 1/4 mile runs. |

You don't need most of that junk.
How many miles on the car? Are you competing or just having fun? |
not entirely sure, about the wheels/tires yet. i am at a cross betwen O.Z. Alleggerita but its only x8... I want to get bbs rgr but to expensive...
preferribly i only want to get to 17" but if i could get wider with 18's that will probably have to happen... i was reading the suspension guidelines and he uses Enkei NTO3+M... seems like not a bad choice. im pretty sure most of that stuff i don't need. probably just need coilovers, choice of sways, change some motor mounts and bushings, standard front/rear strut... call it a day. like i said, i kinduf like them because they look nice to have. how many of you guys use O.Z. ? |

OZ's are heavy. not a fan.
nt03+m.... yum. get those. great sizes too! |
Enkei RPF1's fit beautifully with a 9.5" front & rear on a 45mm offset. These wheels weigh in at around 17lbs. and are perfect for what you want. Great looks, and very well priced.
http://www.1010tires.com/wheel.asp?w...eelbrand=Enkei This is the cheapest I have ever found them.... As far as some of the other stuff... It kinda seems like BLING... As you mentioned. Coilovers, Full bushing replacement, tower bars & sway bars should get you a great handling package. I can understand the roll bar with a need for harnesses..... Watch out for adding a lot of braces. The weight adds up. |

If you are going to autocross, some of those braces are going to put you in XP (one of the top classes). Why not just go race with what you have? |
You forgot some of the most effective handling modifications: Nagisa Fender braces
-Front roll center adjustments if you plan on lowering the car at all effectively. This is what the MOONFACE Control arm that you listed actually is. It's really a stock arm with a laser cut base that has a new RC (roll center adjustable) ball joint. The stock arms are $$$, and I can get you a WAY better price on the MOONFACE stuff as I know the president if this is what you really need. -Bushings. -Wheels and an EFFECTIVE tire package per your chassis/handling/power. Don't just throw on the biggest sizes because that's what you were told. -Upper control arms for alignment range (made by NAMS/Nagisa Auto). Again, this depends on your ride height and alignment settings, and if you really need them. -An alignment -Seat time Those 7 will do more than all those braces combined. Not saying they aren't effective, but these will DO more. |
