Had some time to work on the car, I was worried the BBK was not going to fit with the wheels but thank God it did...All I need now is to buy some tires and some dry weather so I can brake in the brakes...

Trout2 12-10-06 08:11 PM

Very nice!

You got me worried for a sec Jan. I was like omg, we measured this and everything. They must fit. hehe. Plus we shipped these things to AK so i would have felt sooo bad if they didn't work.

Congrats and can't wait to see installed tire pics and all that.

thanks for your patronage,

Rishie

What's wrong with the RP-01s, Kai? :)

ARD T2 12-11-06 11:23 PM

Probably, i'm just guessing here,

1. Old Style
2. Not a MAT wheel
3. Heavier
4. Probably not as good of a fitment

Am i right Kai?

IMPACT 7 12-12-06 12:05 AM

I knew they would fit! Looks GOOD! You need to get some tires on them now. :)

Specter328 12-12-06 12:18 AM

What size tires are you planning on using?

KaiFD3S 12-12-06 01:28 AM

Rishie....I was worried too that it would not fit but thank god it did....I will probably be buying another set of wheels since I need rims for my Scion XB...the daily driver...Oh and do they make centercaps for my wheels..pm me..

Rynberg....Nothing wrong with the RPO1's I am putting this wheels on to complete the look I have been trying to do which is Amemiyas car.

Specter328....I will be running 285/30's all around....

ARD T2 12-12-06 02:22 AM

Ya they better, cause i remember cutting the damn stoptech diagram beforehand. I was so worried you'd get them all the way up there and not have them clear. Oh what a mess that would have been.

Enkei has been real good to me recently for giving me brake clearance confirmations.

The centercaps for these wheels can be seen here: Usually $100.00 add on to any wheel purchase. I'd have to see what shipping comes out to for you. US Mail prob to AK.

I looked thru all my charts for Brake clearance data from Endless/Stoptech and noticed one thing.

YOU FD GUYS ARE LUCKY. Man it's amazing how much taller your rotor hats are than most other vehicles. Even when going to aftermarket Two piece big brake systems.

In general, FD's should have a pretty easy time getting a Big Brake System and good dish on their wheels, or wheels with nice inward bowing spokes like the RPF1 "rear" wheel. Basically you don't really need a super high disk wheel like a Subaru would or even a 350Z.

Most of the FD BBK's don't have the caliper sticking more than an inch past the rotor hat, whereas the RX8 is a good inch and a half or more. Sucks for me cause i can't get Kai's 18" fitment to clear my RX8 Endless brakes. Really sucks.

ARD T2 12-12-06 03:14 AM

Yo Kai,

have you seen my Fabulous xA?

How do you get those to fit without rubbing?

ARD T2 12-12-06 12:08 PM

Well we have been running 18x10 +50 285/30/18 so from a front spacing aspect it really should be the same. He might need to do a minor front fender mod and roll the rears just a little. But hypotethetically it should work.

are those... rotors... on ... backwards???

ARD T2 12-12-06 04:45 PM

Nope, Kai has them on correctly. You want the star/slots to shoot FORWARD. hehe.

Its not the direction of the the slots that dictate how the rotors go on, its the veins (which you can't see in the picture) that show the direction of the rotor.

ARD T2 12-12-06 04:59 PM

Yes Mahjik is correct. 98% of the time the slots and the veins follow this same pattern as Kai's stoptechs.

Bumping a really old thread because 18x9.5 +45 RPF1s do not actually seem to clear Stoptechs. I just installed a set and should have looked more closely at OP's pics; I have about 1mm clearance from the caliper. So it "fits" but as I understand it 1mm is not enough clearance and the wheel could eventually contact the caliper.

Can I fix this with a ~2mm spacer for now?

Yes.

gracer7-rx7 09-26-16 04:13 PM

If the issue with clearance is at the spokes, yes, a spacer should help.

ArmenMAxx 09-27-16 08:26 PM

If you find a quality 2mm hubcentric (if even possible) spacer please share it. I have the same wheel and Im living with the 1mm clearance.
