Going to buy the tein springs to lower my car 1.3 inches on a set of 18x8-18x9 rims. car is sitting on 245-40-18 in the front and 275-35-18 BFG G-Force T/A KDW2's . Opinions welcome before i buy em.

They are only 150.00 Brand new, shipped in an original TEIN box.

Rub, rub, rub...

Be ready to roll your fenders. That's my car above with with S-Tech & 17's and 255's all around.

 

You're going to be eating fender liners with those too tall front tires, if you lower the car. Rubbing the fender liner is bad, because there are important wiring harnesses above them and they WILL get damaged. If you are going to lower your car at all, you should remove those fronts and get properly sized tires -- 245/35 is the proper size. How wide are your front wheels?

BTW, which Tein springs are they?

 

Ebay Tein S springs. I have 275 35 18s on the back, But i havent bought the front tires yet. Either size in front is 155 a peice. Fronts are 18x8 245 is my max width.

Why is it so important to get different shocks with springs? I know on hondas you can use just KYB's or somethin... Anyone??

 

Because most of the time, the stock shocks won't last long with very stiff springs. Some companies make springs that are designed to work with the stock shocks of their application (i.e. Eibach and H&R).

Also, you have to remove the shock in the first place to install the springs. You may as well do it all at once so you don't have to pay or do the same labor twice.

I concur with Mahjik and rynberg. Upgrade your dampers either with Koni Adjustables and Tokico Illuminas. IMO.

Yes I love them on my FC too. Got rid of my JIC coilovers, couldn't handle it anymore and just did the illumina, RSR Race setup. GC camber/caster plates, and tein rear pillowballs. Kind of a culmination of brands but the objective has been acheived. Not to mention all the other little alignment and bushing goodies.

Those look like 5Zigen Typhoons, and they retail for about $220/wheel, usually you can find them for about $180-200.

On topic - I don't know about Tein springs, some people complain about rubbing or bottoming out with these because of how much they lower the car/how low the springrates are. I'd suggest something like RSR race springs with stiff, adjustable shocks like KYB AGXs or Konis. That way you'll be less likely to rub. And yeah, take the suggestion given above and get the 35-series tires.

 

How low the spring rates are? The S-Tech spring rates are about 440 front, 320 rear. I have them on my car with stock struts and dont get any tire rub at all. I used to rub during hard cornering with my stock springs though. But the downside is I blew both my rear struts so some Illumina's are coming soon.

The Typhoon is no longer current to my knowledge. I am so sorry. I can check to see if they have old stock but very doubtful.
