Taller Bump stops
 

Hi all,

Now that I have stuffed some wider wheels and tires. I have been presented with a concern of damaging the fenders. I feel during normal driving, I highly doubt if it would not even come close but when going in and out of the driveway. I feel like there could be an issue.

So naturally, I am looking for solutions to prevent the damage to the fenders and was wondering if anyone increased the height of the bump stop instead of rolling the fenders.

I feel the latter is much less invasive and reversible. Any thoughts or info in this. I couldn't find any references to this.

i can't get his website to work but Automotive Suspension Experts | Fat Cat Motorsports sells all kinds of bump stops. i think eibach sells bump stops too, probably the same ones.

if you reduce the amount of suspension travel available, then its a good idea to stiffen the springs so you will use less travel, and of course you might need stiffer shocks for that.... so it might be more involved that first glance

Now how much suspension travel do we utilize in city driving vs. Going over the bumps which can be mitigated by conscious driving?

It will depend on where and how aggressivly you drive but just driving around town, would you say in normal driving condition you would utilize about +/- 2 inches of travel, total of 4 inches?

not sure, its possible to do the maths and find out how much you need at like full grip and full roll, and then add a little for a bump. for the street i think you could just put a zip tie on the shock and go for a drive?

Very good idea on zip tie. I suppose you are marking the highest compression position during regular driving by doing that?

yep! i would do a "normal drive", and then see where the bump stop is, and add maybe 1/2" or so for bumps, and there you are.
