'sWhich rear tires should I get? Supra 712/ BFG G-Force T/A KDW, or Yoko AO32R's?

Which of these 3 tires would you guys recommend for a street car. Road noise to me doesn't matter.... ultimate handling and grip is what I'm after.

Size I'm looking at is 245/45/16:

Kumho Ecsta Supra 712

BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW (the standard KD doesn't come in this size)

Yokohama A032R

I have Potenza S-02 Pole Positions up front but too cheap to spend the extra money for them out back.

Thanks,

S-03's?

Also the S-03's as they are about $20 more than the AO32R.

However Bang for the buck the G-Force T/A KDW tire seems to be the best.

Why are you comparing the Kumho 712 to a Yokohama A032R Drag Radial? I have the BFG KDW's on mine in 245/45/16. They work great for street tires. I race with them and they hook up pretty good. But the new S03's are the shit. We sell the piss out of them, they hook up better then the S02's. Don't be cheap. Get the best. I had the Kumho's on my GSX and they worked ok on it but they would still spin. Everyone with a RWD that I know is not a big fan of the Kumho's other than the price. I went BFG's as a happy medium and 555R's for racing. The A032's just don't wear very long.

When you say 555R's for racing..... do you mean drag racing or road racing? I have these already.

I want a handling tire.... and the AO32R is a road race tire... not a drag radial anyways.

I also agree that the S-03 is probably the best choice.... but costly!

I would like to run Mariah front fender flares and then do 245/45/16's all the way around on stock '89-91 T2 rims. Wonder if this is possible?

S-03s...no contest...A032Rs will wear too fast, even though they're cheaper by $20...

I meant 555R's for Drag Racing. Get a set of Advans if you want a good road race tire. I've heard that they perform awesome. Never had them though so I don't know. The Kumho V700 are descent road racing tires as well. The Kumho 712's with knifedge really bad while road racing. Plus their traction is not that good so I hope you know how to Drift well.

I'd go Kumho V700's or vicotracers for the budget DOT approved tire. I hear poor remarks on the A032R's, other than they're surprising in the rain.

Heard much better about the Kumhos at the track.

thanks for the replies guys. I might as well bite the bullet and get rear S-03's.

I am running 205/55/16 S-02's up front.... looks like time to upgrade to some 225/16 S-03's

i wouldn't give up on the BFG KDW's so easily. they're really friggin' cheap right now ... $119/tire for 245/45 16's at tirerack.com vs. $173/tire for the S03's. i know someone posted not too long ago about being able to get the KDW's for $108/tire also.

i use the KDW's for regular use and auto-x and i think they're great on dry road. i know the s03's are the shit, but for the price, the KDW's are a damn good deal. i've got half a season of auto-x on these tires and i'm pretty satisfied with them. and if you're relatively new to auto-x, road racing, or time trialing; then, you're not going to notice the difference anyways. that's essentially what i'm doing ... i know i haven't gotten good enough as a driver; once i do, then get the really good tires and put down some kick-ass times ... at least for tire class. :)

I think I'm just going to get the BFG KDW's.... as they will handle good enough for me and I'm no pro driver on the twisties..... yet! This is mostly a street car anyway but will do some autoX'ing.

Down the line within 6 months I plan to get Mariah Motorsports front flares and then some cheap rims and mount 255/17's all the way around with Hoosier road race tires.

FYI, Hoosier R3S03s don't come in 255/40-17...245/40-17, 245/45-17 or 275/40-17, but not 255/40-17...they are available in 255/45-17, but that's too tall for our Rx7's tire fitment!

just a little FYI Yokohama A032R are not Drag tires they are road race tires.

any way I would recommend the A032R for hard street driving and road race.

and get a set of slicks on some cheap wheel when you goto the drag track.
