Suspension decision... Input Needed
 

OK I own a 93 FD and I want a straight race coilover system for road racing. But i still want to be able to drive it on the street without bending any of the components. So right now im torn between the Cusco Zero-2, TEIN type RA. What are your guys opinions on these suspensions? and is there any other suspensions I should look into?

You can't drive either of those on the street, I don't care what anyone tells you. Look into the JIC FLT-A2, seems to be designed to be streetable, gets good reviews, and has "reasonable" spring rates. Also, the Tein Flex.

BTW, before you spend a bunch of money, how much track experience do you have?

Thats BS man I've driven a 240 with an SR20 that had the TEIN type RA's on it. The TEIN RA's are defienantly streetable...

Depends what you call streetable. I'm not a big fan of coil overs for street use b/c they really stiffen up the ride and the roads in pa, nj, ny, ct etc are often pot holed from the winter's snow.

why don't you search on those setups. its been discussed before.

btw - why you jumping down the guys throat when you asked for people's opinions?

And is a 240 the same car as an FD? Have you ridden in an FD with RAs?

240SX RA spring rates: 559/448
FD RA spring rates: 895/895

Gee, I guess the FD rates are significantly higher, huh? Not only that, but the rear spring rates are way too high for neutral handling, ask any TRACK EXPERIENCED FD owner.

You asked for opinions and I gave you one. I notice you didn't answer my track experience question, so I'm assuming you don't have any. Save your money. If you want better handling and a lower look, get some H&R springs and some Konis and be done with it. They'll cost half as much and are more than you would ever need for driving on public roads.

Actually I ignored your track experience question. I have 2-3 years of track experience whether is at Watkins Glen, Lime Rock, or Summit Point, and i've driven various autoX's throughout the years. I was brought up racing in a 993 C2S that my father races. It has a full penske racing suspension which is worth more than some cars.

This is my first Rx7 build and yes i want opinions. I appreciate the information on the spring rates, but I would have to find it difficult to corner balance a vehicle with the use of H&R springs and a Koni shocks. But I also agree with your opinion, I use to have that setup on my 99 2.5RS and it was awsome on the street. This is basically a full race car and will not see more than 5K miles a year on the road

youre crazy if you want to street RAs.for the amount youre going to spend on RAs, get the FLT-A2s or even zeals.

Then stick with your Teins and don't bother asking us to waste our time by posting just so you can explain how we don't know what we're talking about. Assuming the same model shock is going to feel the same on two different types of car is absurd.
