Struts: anything new on the market? info on bilsteins?

i know most guys who don't go coilovers or something hardcore seem to pick up the konis or tokicos (all the rx7store carries coincidentally) but is there anything else out there that works? a friend recommended bilsteins just on overall quality and build.

Bilstein builds a good product. You hear less about them because they are not adjustable.

i have bilstiens on my FD good, i like them. my springs are the RB's they lowered it well enough but are a little too soft.

I have Bilsteins with KG/mm springs (MUCH nicer than the RB springs I had) and have had no complaints. A bit on the stiff side, but thats the way I like the car. I wish there was an aftermarket Pillowball Mount I could get for the fronts, thats about the only thing they are missing to stay on my setup. I have had adjustable shocks on cars (Tokico, Koni) before and didn't "use" them once I found a sweet spot, so I decided to get some with no adjustability. So far so good with the wear - at least 16k miles on em so far

Come on Damon, didn't you know Bilsteins are SELF adjusting? ;)

whats the going rate on a set of bilsteins? seems like everything is $550-$600.

shox.com is good people. Highly recommended :bigthumb:

Thumbs up on shox.com too. Been working with them for 10 years now.

I do prefer Konis though. Its real nice to have adjustability. When I had Bilsteins on my BMW that I sold last year, I really hated them. Went through 2 sets of fronts and 3 sets of rears under warranty. What a pita. Plus they always felt too stiff in terms of ride.

Another benefit for the Konis is that they have adjustable spring perches too.

i just bought bilsteins strut/shocks and eibach springs on ebay....
i was gonna go for tokico because it was cheaper(and its pretty know brand too), but i see too many negetive feed backs on tokicos.

i got question here.... i heard u have to break in springs??!! and it's going to be lower then when i first istall them.... is that true?!

No on the spring break-in.

Your second question makes no sense.

I also have the RB springs with the Bilstein and like the ride.
Only slightly stiffer than my original R1 suspension.
Shox.com are good people, got my shocks from them too.

David Kim, I never heard of break-in springs.
Your second question?????

BicuspiD, self adjustment (not!), is the reason why I got the Bilsteins.
If DamonB would have known, I know he would be riding our setup.:D

I know I was joking about the marketing they used - kinda inside joke from another thread.. :)

but I still like my Bilsteins :)
