Staggered / Square setup HELP
 

Hello. I am currently looking into buying meat for my new wheels as the car season is near and my FD will be fresh out of a single turbo swap.
(S363 for those wondering). Anyways, That is not my point,
The new wheels I got are

Front:

18x9 +25

Rear:

18x10 +22

Would 255/40 up front be quite the same as 275/35 in the back?
Those are some sizes I kept in mind. Also, I plan on getting square profiled tires (Toyo R888), which helps, sorta?


I really wanted a square setup such as herblenny or something like that,
but I have staggered wheels which make it a little harder to find the proper tire sizes.

255/40-18 up front is too tall, I'd go 255/35-18 or 245/35-18.

If stock fenders, +25/+22 offset might require you to run smaller tires in addition to rolled fenders and max negative camber...

245 is better on a 9" wheel than a 255. a little stretch helps performance. we're running a 205 on a 9" wheel, performs about the same as the 225. race cars have rules

The rears are going to poke 10mm farther out if my calculations are correct.

Street or Track? If you are not tracking it, stock wheels/tires are fine and anything else is pure aesthetics (which can affect drivability).

The offsets of your wheels are not conducive to the tire sidwall look you are going for on a stock body.

Front-
If you max the front camber and roll the fenders with a moderate pull you will be able to tuck 18x9.5 +25 255/35-18 up front.

I know this because it fits exactly the same to the fender as my 18x11 +45 295/30-18 and that is what I had to do to make it fit.

Rear-
You will have to do a fender roll with pull (forming an arch over the original fender opening by pulling the 3/4 panel) to fit 18x10 +22 with 265/35-18 or just do a fender lip roll and run max rear camber.

wheel and tire will stick out 10mm further than my 18x11 +45 295/30-18 set-up.

Those are Hankook Ventus Z221 TD tires which don't have a rim protector flange. I later went to R888 which has a rim protector flange and so looks more square (and it is a bit wider overall).

Rear sidewall is obviously pulled by the weight of the tubby car, but look at front passenger for profile.

Up front, for the moment I plan on keeping it stock, but eventually am going to get the feed front fenders just like the one on the picture above aswell.

When you say max out negative camber up front, does that mean having my wheels look retard cambered?

I could have a slightly smaller sidewall I don't mind. As long as it still looks squarish and about the same from fronts to rears.

I have seen people running 275/35/18 in the back, wouldn't that be possible with the pull I am showing you on the picture?

And if so, would 255/35/18 be the equivalent to it up front on a 9 inch wheel rather than a 10 (rears)

edit: If I go 245/35/18 up front, then it would be 265/35/18 rears?




EDIT NUMBER 2: The offsets I posted on the first message of this thread are the ones on my current wheels.
NEW OFFSET IS +24 +24

A 10" wide wheel is .5" wider than a 9.5" wheel which equates to 12.7mm.

So a 265 on a 10" wheel is more likely to match a 255 on a 9.5" wheel as far as sidewall profile.

Except tires aren't always predictable.

Look at the R888 stats on Tire Rack. You basically are looking to line up wheel bead wdith (the listed wheel width), tire section width and tread width so they are equal to get a square, straight sidewall.

Next, do Google image searches to confirm what Tire Rack says- its not always right.

Stock front fenders? Good luck!

With +24 offset you need max camber and 225 tires to clear the stock un-rolled fender lip.

For what its worth, I run 18x9.5 +22 all around with 235/40 and 265/35 Nitto NT05s.

I'm running -3.5 / -2.5 camber. I'll probably move up to a 255/35 in the front next time around. Albeit will be wider, it will be nearly .5" shorter which will give me a ton more clearance.

This does require rolled fenders front & rear, with a SLIGHT pull in the front. Fenders look factory.

If you're willing to tinker around you can run pretty aggressive setups while remaining functional.
