Springs.. TEINs vs H&R vs Eibachs

who has any experiences with these 3 springs and which has a lower drop??

is the front supposed to have a lower drop or the rear?

a shop here says the TEINs and H&Rs have 1.5 drop in the front and 1.3 in the back...

true?

im in desperate measure for some springs.. just for now for the summer time.. :D

rotoboy661 05-16-04 06:00 PM

i think the tein springs are kinda soft for my taste

i had the eibachs and they were great with my R1 shocks

they lower the car fr: 1.25 and rr: 1.25

i got hks hypermax's now and thoses are undoubtly awesome

and u can drop the hell out of ur FD ( but i dint tho)

heres some pics of my FD and 18's volks w/hks coils

I have the eibachs on my Base - According to Howard Coleman (suspension guru), he thinks the eibachs are the best springs you can put on the FD w/ base/touring shocks and maintain the rideability and drastically increase the handling performance of the car.

Do a search and you will find the thread i am talking about.

I put them on my car at his suggestion, and the ride is noticeably stiffer, but it almost eliminates body roll. It also drops the car 1" all the way around. Car looks and rides MUCH more aggresive.

Just my .02

Also, Rotoboy was selling those springs not too long ago - you might want to check w/ him. Otherwise, I got mine at www.optionimports.com for about 210 (I think they are 235 or so now)

Let me know what you decide to do.

Steve

He doesn't have them anymore :D

I installed the rears yesterday but haven't gotten around to doing the fronts. I drove it around the block and am very pleased on how they felt. They dropped it the perfect height, not too low and not too much gap.

Thanks rotoboy :bigthumb:

Lots of $$$ though. A new set of Koni Sport shocks and Eibach springs will run about $700-$800. A good set of coil-overs will run $2000, and then you still need to have the car corner-weighted.

H&R/Bilstein Setup

Here's a side picture of my car on H&R's and Bilsteins. They make for a very nice setup and feel pretty much like the car should have felt from the factory. The handling is nuts and it turns too hard to experiment with on the street. I've also done Racing Beat sway bars and the rear links from Rotary Extreme. For tires, I'm running 245/45/R16's all around.

Mako: a little offtopic, but that's my truck in the background! lol i wish my car woulda made it there. with my h&r's the front always sat a little lower in the front, but i think the blown shocks had some to do with that. the car looked really clean in person tho!

spoolin93r1, that's too bad your car didn't make it. Mine almost didn't a couple of times.

My H&R ride height is very balanced f/r. They're brand new with new Bilsteins on them so that's how they should be unless something bad happens. The progressive rate feature of the H&R's is nice to have on the street, especially when there's those jittery bumps and wavy on/off ramps that usually upset the car. The springs just deal with them. My Bilsteins are also self adjusting too, so I imagine that smooths the ride out appropriately once it starts getting exciting, but its hard to really tell because they do their job pretty smoothly and don't fuss about it.

I might be willing to make a separate thread on my suspension setup since I did nearly everything over winter while the motor was out. I have a bunch of pictures of everything before and after. My computer is down now, but I can take more pictures and add to my imagestation list. Let me know if you guys are interested.
