Spacer on OEM 17”
hey guys , I was wondering what are the recommendations for spacer on OEM 17” rims my car has rolled fenders soo without spacer they really “sink” in. AND I keep being called about the gap... Sooo im looking for something that is more flush BUT just enough space to bounce up/down inside the wheel wells , NO stance stuff.. i took some measurement and I can up with +25mm in the rear +10mm in the front Rear tires : 255/45/17 Front tire : 245/55/17 is this accurate , what would you guys recommend ? thank you. Momo There opinion doesn't pay your gas bill or maintenance or parts why allow someone's opinion of you to live in your head rent free? mm hmm? That would work but you might as wheel buy wider wheels. FD has a lot of space for wider wheels all around. |

5mm will make a little difference and won't have any negative effects. Go too big and your lugnuts will have nothing to bite into and you will also be causing extra wear on your suspension bushings because the wheels aren't where Mazda intended them to be.
I'd look for a nice set of used wheels that fit if you want to go out 10mm+. :) |

in regards of wheels position, I’m no engineer of any sort, maybe I’m wrong but I think it’s less bad than putting like 285 or 315 in the back on an 10.5 or 11” rim or something. +25mm/1” on each rear tire. I don’t see it make much difference on my driving , I’m not tracking , it’s a week-end cruise. the gap is obvious, and it’s bugging me when I look at my car. Front not that bad but rear.. I’m aware that in completely stock car (unrolled fenders) with stock 16” rim the gap is gigantic , but that’s another chapter. |

It doesn’t matter if you track your car or not, proper offset wheels are just common sense. The wheel gap bugs you, but driving on 25mm spacers would not bug you? Ok, thats fine with me. |

Think of breaking a pencil. A shorter one is much harder to break. That's what goes on with the axles when you put in 10mm+ spacers and push the wheels out. Things get easier to wear out and break. Wider wheels with a good offset are still centered where Mazda intended the wheels to be, so the force on the axles, CV joints and bushings is less, even though the tires are wider and grabbing better. |

To follow up on my this , well I decided to move away from spacer(slip-on) to bolt-on spacer for various reasons. Anyways, I tried 10mm in the front and it looked better IMO (remember I have rolled fenders) maybe I can even go 12 or 15mm. I haven’t fully turned the wheels left or right yet nor I drove it . So will see. |
