Anyone try running the mustang wheels on all 4 corners of an FD?

I am seeing these around used maybe 1-1.2k for a set... they don't seem too heavy at around 25# ea, they are the same FD bolt pattern, but are +45 offsets, so I would think you would need to take about 7mm off the backside of the hub area to get them to fit (while they have some extra material back there, the lugs are tapered and probably not thick enough to safely remove the full 7mm so it may present some front fitment issues; rears should be just fine with a slight fender roll)...

Looking to get something like that with the 285/30-18 federals 595-RSR or whatever they come out with next year...

The front will stick out a little. That wheel with a 285/30-18 would be fine with a 10mm wider fender like the seibon but on a stock one....I don't think you'll like it.

I have 18x10+51 285/30-18 and it's as far out on a stock fenders as you can without going too far.

For the back it's just about perfect. Add a 5mm spacer if your lip is rolled to get it more flush.

But more importantly, Mustang wheels on an FD?......an FC sure....there are better looking (imo) and similarily priced options that will fit better.

I only see "18×10 offsets from +16 to +42" for the F14s so they would have an even worse offset for the front (with an ideal front offset being around +52 as previously surmised)..

But to your point, yes on the better looking and maybe more reasonably priced options... just wondering why more people aren't running takeoffs from the mustang tuners...

I am running an 18x11.5" wheels all around on a +42mm offset (+41mm effective offset due to my project mu rotors).

I run a 285/30/18 RE-11 tire (11" wide tread width). -2 degree front camber, -1.3 rear.

perfect would be an 18x11 +45mm offset with 285 wide tires.

this is with rolled front and rear fenders. you could run 295's depending on tread width on a 18x11 +45mm offset.

 

I have 18x10 +50 with a 6mm spacer on the front, so effectively +44.

The tires are 285/30/18 Hoosier A6 - fenders are rolled, no issues with rubbing.

 

Thanks JKStill.... so it looks like these mustang takeoffs might work... while they are not awesome custom fit wheels, opening up the market to mustang takeoffs should be an option, provided that I can get them in decent shape for the right price... it also might help with the resale value if I decide to upgrade later..

I am also open to shaving / milling the inside wheel area slightly if required, but I run quite a bit of negative camber (an autocross alignment) so they might already tuck ok as you suggest...

Although the Hoosiers are pretty small castings, I would be looking to run something like a direzza or federal 595rsr (if they make a 200 tread wear version) in that same tire size

If you max the front camber around stock ride height (~ -2.4 deg) you will tuck 285 street tire on the 18x10 +45.

For the widest tire possible on a cambered FD with rolled fenders I measured that +45 offset was optimal.

More offset gets the tire into the suspension/body with a wide tire.

I went with 18x11 +45 Forgestar F14 @ 21lbs and ~$1,300 a set.

Here is how they look with a 295/30-18 Hankook Ventus TD Z221 (somewhat wider than 285/295 Hoosier- not quite as wide as cheap 295/30-18 R888).

So your tire would be in the same spot with just a more rounded sidewall.

 

When I had aboiut 2 degrees negative camber there was no issues.

Currently at 3+ degrees, so even less issue.
