Rims and Tires
 

Im looking for the right rims / tires combo for my 3rd gen.

I have a set of TEIN coilovers so I have alot of room up front.

I was thinking of trying a set of Volk TE37 18x9.5 all the way around.

I'd like to do 285's, but Im not sure they will fit on a 9.5 in rim.

Has anyone else gone this big with a 3rd gen? Does anyone know if those volks have enough back spacing?
I'm an idiot when it comes to this stuff. I'v mostly been referring ot the following article with this guy who has 285's all the way around.

They don't make TE-37s in a proper offset to run 9.5s up front.

Also, it's not a good idea to run 285/30s on 9.5-inch wheels. Almost all the tire makers recommend a min 10-inch wheel for that size tire.

Check out the current post in the suspension forum -- RedR1 is running 18x9.5" +50 offset SSR Competitions all around with 265/35 tires. That is a much better fit for streetable cars. SSR Comps are as light at TE-37s and look better IMO.

Max Cooper's set-up works but he runs a very stiff suspension and larger front anti-roll bar. His wheels are also the proper offset (+50).

Nice wheels, but you still can't run them up front. The widest Volk wheels you can fit up front (with modifications) would be the CE28ns, 18x9.5, +47 offset or the GT-series, 18x9, +44 to +49 offset.
