review of k2rd coilovers?
does anyone have them and what do they think about them?

I've heard them to work quite well, especially for the price of the system. Contact Paul at K2RD. He'll be glad to take care of you. I love the fact that the kit includes everything you'd need minus the Toe eliminator bushings. A great product at a great price.
Just remember that there are certain attributes to a coilover system that are not as comfortable as progressive coilovers. Especially on the freeway where the plate seams are. Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy. I drove in an S5 NA equipped with them tonight... weak tires and on the lowest settings. Seamed decent... but honestly, I expected a little more. In all fairness though, it was hardly tuned (Car has been winterized).

is the k2rd coilover a true coilover set up or just the sleeve to go with separate shocks like ground control?

its like an improved ground control, they ride pretty well, and handle well too. one of the reasons theres no review is that, i have custom spring rates so mine is a little different, i also have no front sway bar.

I run them and think they are great and good bang for the buck. I have 400lb springs up front and 250lb rear. That is the max spring rate you can run up front with KYB AGX's or the struts will not respond well. If you need more spring rate then get Koni's. 4way adjustable up front and 8 way out back with the KYB AGX's.
If you are a bad ass road racer get the Tein's. If you want a good handling street car that you can go to track days with get the K2RD.com setup and save some bucks. Put that money into some Bridgestone S-03's. I have polyeurathane bushings from http://www.suspension.com at all 4 corners ($95), 1 1/8" Quickor Racing sway bar up front ($200), K2RD.com kit $950 (c/c plates, coilovers, AGX's, toe elimin bush, rear adj camber link), Autopower 10pt rollcage. My street settings are 2 up front (4 is the stiffest), and only 4 out back. Anything stiffer and the ride is a little harsh for crappy San Francisco streets. On a smooth road race course (have yet to run it on one) I will make it stiff as hell and I love this setup. If you plan to do the coilover route definately rebuild the rest of the suspension (poly eurathane bushings and rear toe eliminator bushings). -GNX7 |
