Just wondering if anyone on there has had experience with these?

I know they are now optional on higher level cars, but Im wondering about the aftermarket versions such as this one..

Well, that's diffferent than what most upper level cars use. The low pressure indicator on most cars is just a measurement from the ground to the sensor, it doesn't actually read the tire pressure (which is why people usually have to reset them when changing rims and wheels that aren't quite the same overall diameter).

IMO, they aren't worth the money. Typically, by the time the sensor is displaying a low tire alert; it's already being felt in the steering/handling of the car. Now, for what they are using it for (large trucks or trailers) where the low tire effect may not be as noticeable, it's probably a good idea.

 

And to think that the original systems were based off of the antilock brake speed sensors -- then came wireless.

System looks cool - I think buying batteries for the pressure monitors would get annoying along with I can't see myself purchasing something because i'm too lazy to feel or check tires when i fill up.

Hummers have a line that goes through the hub to refill on the fly.:-)

 

I've read that the Smartire system sold by Tirerack is good.

Like you said..changing batteries on these would be a PITA.
