Quantum Coilover Information

I have been looking around for info on the Quantum Coilovers that Amemiya uses. The only thing I can find is that they run 16kg;F/18kg;R, isn't that a crazy spring rate? The most I have seen on anything else is like 12kgs.

Any info or advice in choosing coils is appreciated,

Alex

I think that suspension setup for DD car is over kill, you can probably get the same with a custom set of koni yellows and springs of your desire.

The quantums on the FD race cars usually uses very stiff spring rates due to the butter smooth track and R compunds they use.

If i remember correctly the price for a set was around 5-6 k ..

If you get them I want a ride when im Montreal :) .

$4,500 brand new, and Ramy can get them. Don't know why you would need them though. HAHA! More like a dream setup for the track if you ask me.

My friends SCCA honda cup S2000 runs 20kg Springs up front, for some odd reason it does not feel too stiff, Not sure about the spring rate in the back. I think you could do with it.

I have a set of 10k spring for my JIC's those are plenty stiff, I dont mind them on the road, but everyone else cant stand them

I can admit that the roads here in Montreal might be worse than Baghdad. Just trying to guage the track/street time the car will see. I read a little more and I guess the 2kg drop in the rear rates is to give the car a little less oversteer characteristics...

This is a long term project so I am sure that questions will continue to pop up.

2kg drop in the rear would bias it a bit more towards understeer, but you listed the rates as 16kg F / 18kg R, which is odd. I rarely see equal rates, much less higher rear rates. Did you mix them up by accident?

no those are the correct rates. a lot of japanese coilovers run either equal rates or rear biased rates.

quantum coilovers

Hey, now one answered where you can get the Quantum Springs? I'm not thinking of grabbing....I WANT to grab them! :P Please someone tell me where.

eoph 05-14-08 11:06 AM

quantum uses swift or nova springs...........

XxJaPxOxNeEs23xX 05-21-08 04:26 PM

The springs on the re amemiya are swift springs and quantam coilovers. swift supposidly has great spring reflexes

purerx7 05-21-08 04:52 PM

interesting, the one amemiya uses has much higher spring rates then the ones he sells.
The re-amemiya coilovers, roughly $1800 are F:10kg R:8kg, I would assume they are outsourced somewhere.

i dont think the ones you have listed there are quantums. RE-A has a few different line ups for suspension.

these are the Re-amemiya quantums F16k R 18k: http://www.re-amemiya.co.jp/commodit...a1b1e&scd=7934

the one you posted is their street damper kit:

You guys talking about these little buggers?:Wconfused

Just for giggles I through them on a scale to see how much they weigh.
5kg
Then I weighed some swift springs
4kg
I didnt have any upper mounts to weight but they cant be more than
1kg.

Now keep in mind I am selling a pair of Aragosta`s that are considered very lightweight but they weigh 19kg! Compared to quantum which only weighs 10kg

Europeans invented road racing it is nice to see that they are still good for something hahaha. J/K euro guys.

Oh forgot to mention, this set has a bent shaft on the upper portion ::(:
Still need to send it in for overhaul and replacement.

Im sorry i brought up this old threat but no one was talking about the weight of the coilover itself
