Poll for best looking aggressive Tire for street
Ok guys I have a bout 350 at the rear wheel of my FD. what is the best bang for the buck. proformance and looks. I like the look of the yokohama Ao32R but you only get 10,000 miles on the tire. Who has the best looking and proformance tires for the street?

The A032 is an "R" compound tire, and while technically DOT-legal, like any other "R" it wasn't really intended for, nor will it last long on the street.
If you're looking for performance on the street, and ability to lay-down power from a real street tire, i'd run 17" BFG KD's, on 9" front, and 10" rear rims, sized 275/40/17 and 255/40/17. In the looks department, I thought the old S02's were the best looking tires ever.... now, S03's and T1s aren't bad. |
Re: Poll for best looking aggressive Tire for street
I have 370 at the wheels, and do fine with 255/40-17 Pirelli P6000s on 9 x 17s. I thought they sucked, but after they get nice and warm, and the tread depth is about 5/32nds, the P6000s stick pretty well. Not bad for $100 each. Have had these for 1 year and 15,000 miles. I'd say the P6000s about half way done, so maybe another 15,000 miles? Next tires will probably be Pirelli P-Zero Rossos in same 255/40-17 size (currently $180 each @ Tire Rack).

lol the look of your tires shouldnt really matter to you, you should be looking for the tires performance not the looks. but if your stuck on the looks u should check out the Yokohama avs sports or the Es100's they look nice, the bfg g force kd's look real nice, and the Nitto 555 extreme drag radial that should stick and look really good. all these tires i listed are high performance, any of them should do the job for you.

I'm running Falken Azenis. I think they look pretty aggressive (big thread blocks). But they too are only supposed to last 10~12K miles. Mine have about 15K mi. on them and need to be replaced soon (mainly the rears).

My next choice were the Yoko AVS ES100's. They seem more practical. I wanted to see if the Falken's gripped as good as people say they do---and all the hype is real...they stick like no other.

MAZDASPEEDFD,
Which model of Azenis? There are two model...regular one and sport one. However, both are called differently from places to places. |
Sport.

Personally, I like SO3's

advan A048
They look cool but like the A032, dont last long. They only come in 3 DOT approved sizes. |
I have heard that the Firestone SZ50 is the same basic tire as the S03 but with a different tread pattern. Nothing I can confirm though. I can say it is a great tire though. Right up there with the S03s if not the same.

i role the khumo v 700 ultra sticky r compund
bad thing is i dented my ride up with rocks sticking and popping up ...:{ small price to pay for 50 mph roundie bouts.. |

I've been looking at tire selection for a while too. S03 seems to be the best tire for performance, durability and wet traction. The tread isn't as good looking as S02.
AVS Sport is another good choice but doesn't seem to last as long. Kumho MX has been a low end fav as is the ES100, both capable but may not be as comfortable as the Max Performance tires that costs $50 more each mentioned above. I've heard good reviews on BFG KDW and Pirelli P Zero. Tire rack is the best place for picking tires with good reviews. |
ES100's have exceeded my expectations by a mile.
Used to run the A032R, loved them until they get hard after about 5k miles, plus they are loud as sin. Tried AVS Sports, hard as bricks, hated them. ES100's rule for performance, forget that they are less expensive than S03s and try them. 255 or 275 |

Interesting! Did you open track these tires (Kyle is it?)?

I think the S02's are the best street tire ever....The S03's are better in the rain though....
