Plasti dip stock FD3S rims?
 

Has anyone done this on thier fd? Thinking of spraying mine flat black and was just wondering if anyone else has done it and how it looked/held up

I did mine about 1 1/2 yrs ago. Mine is a brilliant black and the black wheels do look nice on it. The black color kinda fades a bit now

IMHO for flat black fd to pull it off it HAS to look hardcore. Either via body kit or stance

I plastidipped mine and the were fine held up fine , but got scratched while getting balanced now there is a big rip in the plastic . I'd have to redo it all to fix it

oh and that flat black FD with the green wheels . was kind of my inspiration. just need to make my paint job look that good..

well my car is 100% stock right now...interior...exterior...engine...everything. I thought about plasti dipping the entire car matte black, along with the rims. I would love to put some different rims on it but right now just don't have the money for it. ill already be planning on rebuilding the motor in the next few weeks....btw that car up above looks fucking amazing

I dipped my stock wheels when I first got my FD. Black with a copper mettalizer to get a bronze finish.

Plasi-diped mine white a while ago. Been through more than a few car washes with no problems at all.

I'm having a local plasti dip installer do my car next week. I'm also going with the black. I was thinking of having them do my factory wheels in the anthracite color until I get my te37s. The installer told me that he just had a car win best paint at a car show that was dipped. Should be about $800 to do the whole car.

^^^^looks pretty good so overall the plasti dip is pretty durable? i just don't wanna do it if its gonna peel off or tear easily or anything like that. i guess id prolly have to get some black lug nuts..

I haven't done mine yet but the place doing it gives a 3 year warranty. They also told me that they have a process to make it permanent. They said that they have clients with mostly work oriented vehicles make it permanent, kinda like a bed liner.

that doesn't look half bad.

IMO the stock wheels only look good in gunmetal, bronzed or satin(OEM). polished, black or just about any other color just doesn't look right.

I bought 2 cans from Walmart to do it with. I'm not gonna do it til I replace my pillow all bushings and get black lug nuts. I figured if I adapted them now the lugs are in a get messed up If I don't like it I'll just peel it off. :)

The one with the green wheels looks like the "Hot Wheels" cars I played with as a kid :)

Don't pay someone to do it, just do it yourself. It's easy. Here's my plasti-dip wheel job. All I did was take them off the car and pain.

Should a person remove the tires first and then go for it?

No need to remove the tires, the plasti-dip easily peels right off of them, or if you want just put down some masking tape.

Shit is cheap too. You can actually buy it by the gallon off thier site for like 55$ a gallon. I paid 6$ for an 11oz can. I thought about taking the trim pieces off the doors and doing them cause they have that peel look going on. Maybe sand it down with real fine sand paper then steel wool, then spray it. I have all my stuff to do it now and want to bad but I need to change my willow ball bushings first. On that note....anyone have any they are trying to get rid of? Haha. I've been looking on the forums for about a week now too.

Hope FDHoward93 doesn't mind me posting his FD ;) . Plastidip actually holds up pretty damn good even for Las Vegas heat/sun and takes a beating too. Best part, if you don't like it, peel it off and you're out only few bucks lol.

Glad you posted the red fd with black stock rims. That's what my car will look like. I think I'll post pics of the process as well too.
