Try going toa tire shop and getting the hole plugged. It will only cost you around 10 bucks.

I've patched a tire that close before, but it was an S02. I've drifted on it with no problem. If you want to be safe, you can get some of that tire goo and fill the tire with it to keep it from leaking.
Buy a plug kit and keep it in the car as Max says. They're only a few dollars and simple enough to use.
That said a plug may not hold since your puncture is so close to the sidewall. The sidewall flexes as the tire rolls and that makes patches or plugs tend to fail if they are on it or near it. You've got nothing to lose though. Plug it and worst case it will leak and you'll have to replace the tire anyway.
