NICE!!!

WOW that looks awesome, I have the 99 spec, and I always wondered how they would looked either polished or gunmetal with a polished lip.
Very nice work, how long are they taking you to polish?

Working on and off, it took me about 3 weekends to do that one. I could have probably completed it in one weekend if I had worked on it consistently.

Oh man that is so cool! Are you going to clear coat them for protection? I have the 99s too and was thinking of doing this but decided against it because of the time it would take.

I don't think I will clear coat them. Since I don't drive the car everyday, I might just leave them bare and keep a rag and a jar of Mother's in the trunk.

That's what I thought. Cool

If you don't clearcoat them they will slowly dull. Wax will not stop this. In fact, the wax can get trapped in the aluminum oxide and look pretty bad. I suggest you clearcoat with epoxy paint.

I don't plan to use any type of wax, just Mother's aluminum polish.

Nice rims. Are any suspension upgrades needed with this combo? Will there be any rubbing issues?

Thanks and please post pics once on the car.

No, these are stock '99 JDM rims, so there should be no suspension issues as long as I don't go too big with tire size.

Glad to see this was an actual pic, and not a pic request. Good job.

Don,

Apprently there is a spray on coating just for metal polish.. It handles heat and doesn't yellow.. I have a catalog.. I think its 20 for a regular spray bottle can.

Also, Stephen bought some polishing kit for his compressor.. Once thats all polished out, its going to be bad ass!!

SPOautos 02-22-04 09:48 AM

Actually that clear that Phillip's talking about is only $10. Its desinged spacifically for wheels too and its good up to 300F

I'm going to be clearing all the polish under my hood so it'll be maint free.

Just thought you might want the info. Phillip knows where to get it so if you decided to try it out let him know.

BTW - The wheels are looking great!!!

STEPHEN
