Pic Request: 245/40 R Comps on a 17x9 Wheel
Does anyone have pictures available of a 245/40 r comp tire mounted to a 17x9" wheel?
I see that most tires have a small stretch with a 245/40. Do r comps usually run Taller as well as wider? I'm looking for a meaty setup, but at the same time I can't have the sidewall bulge which is what 255 NT01s have on a 9". Unfortunately since Nitto doesn't make NT01s in 245/40, I'm pretty much looking at Toyo R888s. |
get some 17x10's?

Not really what I'm asking for :)
A picture like this of a 245/40 r comp set up would be very helpful: Attachment 694027 ^ That's a Nitto NT01 255/40 on a 17x9" wheel. You can see how wide it runs and how much its sidewall bulges... I'm hoping I can find out what a 245/40 R888 on a 17x9" would look like. OR I may be interested in non r comps in 255/40 to see if that would work. I need a tire that doesn't run too wide and has a stiff, up-and-down sidewall with no bulge in 255. If I went this route, I'm looking at the RS3, RE11, Star Specs, etc. |
I know this doesn't help, but this was my 275/40/17 R888 on a 9" wheel

Can you please post wheel size/offset and what have you done to fit 275/40x17's? I am very interested in the same tire size, and deciding on wheel specs. How do you like the handling with the 275's? I was considering Enkei RPF1 17x9.5 ET38 with 275/40x17, thinking that close to stock offset will maintain steering feel, and the Enkeis are relatively lightweight. thanks |
The wheel specs in the top pic was 17x9 +30. I rolled the fender flat to make sure it wouldn't get pulled out. The second pic was 17x9 +45, the fenders were rolled to the same point as the top pic. As you can see, there was still room between the tire and fender with the +45 offset. Car was lowered about 1.5". I didn't notice any ill affects on handling with the taller sidewall, the overall height of the tire was 25.6 inches I believe. It would rub the wheel well on deep bumps at interstate speeds though, but I also have very soft spring rates. I'm pretty sure this would've been fixed with a stiffer spring rate around the 8k range for the rear.
