Pettit Fender Flares 11.5 and 335 what are the Odds? (PICS INSIDE)

OK so I did a quick test fit I will be doing one with a 275 mounted on the wheel. I did a test fit without the tire and here is what I got Im sure I'll need to shave down the pettit fender but thats no bigy.

Im not hurting my hub if I run that wide will I? I think its a 11.5 with a 33 offset. Lip is like 6 inches.

not sure if i understand your post, your sentances aren't formed very well.

are you thinking of running a 275 tire on a 11.5 inch wheel? I hope not.

c00lduke 08-12-06 04:07 PM

I'm with stokedxiv on the 275 on 11.5" wheels. If you get 315s or whatever size matches your rims then you will need to trim down the lip of the flare.

David Hayes 08-12-06 05:54 PM

315s to 335 fit the Pettit flares the best and yes, they can fit on 11.5s. Go with them.

rotorooter93fd 09-07-09 12:49 AM

what size wheels are recommended and offset for 335 tires will a 18x12 work? I have no clue on the offset.

purerx7 09-07-09 08:20 AM

Recommended wheel with for a 335 tire is 11.5 to 12.5 according to tire rack.

rotorooter93fd 09-07-09 06:13 PM

what kind of offset is used with a 12 inch wheel 335 tires and the pettit flares? im thinking of doing this setup and i need to know what offset to order

based on teh pic, and assuming those are 18's... i'd say start with 305/30/18 and go from there.

also, fiberglass fenders can be flexed to fit. get a tire on there, compress the suspension up, push/flex the fenders to get the clearance you want, then rivet.

i run 285 on 11 inch rim on front and 315 11.5 inch rim on the back. i would def go with 12 inch for 335

335s will fit a 11.5 inch rims. I have 11.5 inch Forgelines and Pettit rear flares. I currently run 315 but 335s will fit fine and I am going to these once I wear out the backs. In fact, the 315 look a little stretched on my rims:

I've had variances in offset recommendations depending on the installer of the fenders.

12" +10 to +20 is what I've done on various Petit FD's with 335's.

thanks rishie that seems pretty perfect!

ARD T2 09-26-09 10:24 PM

The Camo Endless FD I did with Petit Rear Fender Flares was running 11.5 +0 with 335/30

So Alex did you find the offset you want now?

rotorooter93fd 10-02-09 04:13 AM

yea im going to use a +18 another member recomended it and thats what he has on his car.

rotorooter93fd 01-28-10 03:39 PM

okay so i orderd the wheels in october and still nothing so dont buy from j line their turn around time is awful. I decided to have iconz build the wheels instead and the dealer is eating the price difference since is took so long

So a question for you wheel experts: I just had my 315 30 18s replaced with 335 30 18s on my 12.5 inch rims (originally thought they were 11.5 as posted above but they are not) under my Petitt Flares. I am always asked about the offset for the wheels and I lost this info many years ago so I had the tire guys measure the offset. They told me it was +7 and 5/8 inches. Do I now simply convert this to metrics to match the numbers you guys are throwing around as offsets? If so, my + 7 and 5/8 inch offset is actually a +20 offset?

Another observation: the tire guys stated an easy way to know how large you can go with a tire is to add roughly one inch to your rim width size and use that as the maximum tire size. So, for example, I run 12.5 inch rims. Add 1 inch to that and you get 13.5 inches which is 343 millimeters. This number corresponds with the first part of the tire coding and as 343 is greater than 335, the 335s will fit my rims (and they do BTW).

If you run 11.5 inch rims, you can take up to a 318 tire size. So based on this rough calculation, a 315 is a better fit.

I am no tire expert so feel free to chime in on this.

^^^^

FWIW, typically a nominally sized rim will actually be about 1" wider bead to bead, so a 10" wheel will actually measure 11" bead to bead. That's why the calculation works.

I'm not sure why they do this, because it makes all the calculations a PITA... similar to the aspect ratio tire measurement instead of fixed sidewall heights, but it's reality.

Also, to further confuse things, not all tires of the same nominal size are actually the same size brand to brand. I used to have a set of Bridgestone RE71's, that were the largest "275/40/17" I've ever seen. Closer to a 335... They were mounted on a 9" rim, and were wider than an S02 mounted on a 10" rim!

Yes, I noted this when we measured the rims. The tires guys said the proper measurement is not from bead to bead, but from the inside rim. The bead did add 1 inch to me rims. So, I have 8.5 - 9.5 fronts and 12.5 - 13.5 backs:)

rotorooter93fd 01-31-10 06:14 PM

so im starting to second guess the +18 offset considering the fenders are fiberglass and you can install them in several different ways and considering the body guys already put them on is there a possibility that a +18 offset wont fit with a 18x12 wheel with 335's????

rotorooter93fd 02-01-10 05:47 PM

so they wheels manufacturer is wanting the backspacing, fender to rim fit, caliper clearance front and back, pilot diameter, hub height, and offset, this stuff is getting confusing

And how about the flux capacitor output too? Jesus. If I can measure anything for you, let me know.

rotorooter93fd 02-07-10 05:35 PM

lol ha ha i might take you up on the measurements.

Let me know although I dropped the car back off at Kilo Racing for one final round of tweaking and mods before DGRRX.
