P-Zero Corsas
 
Noticed Pirelli's new P-Zero Corsa which looks to be something along the lines of say a RA-1 or an A032, ie. DOT legal yet very capable on the track but a step down from an all-out DOT race tire. Anyway, saw the ad in Grassroots but there's no info on the Pirelli USA web site. I haven't seen anything on Tire Rack's web site either. I absolutely hate when manfucaturers do that. Offer a pic and a few inspiring words, and then leave you guessing. Anyone have additional info to share?

The Corsas will be replacing Pirelli P-Zero Cs. Tire Rack will eventually carry the Corsas....keep an eye out on the Rack's website.

Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires
The new Pirelli P Zero Corsa is a dual-purpose road and track tire. Destined to replace the existing P Zero C, the Corsa is inspired by the recently introduced P Zero Rosso. The new Corsa carries the concept of “ultimate performance road tire” to new levels of extreme performance.


Essentially a DOT track tire and sold primarily to road racers, the P Zero Corsa utilizes Pirelli’s racing tire innovation and technology program to redefine extreme performance. The typical compromises forced by needs of comfort, quiet operation, or longevity on most daily commuters are not as important to spirited performance drivers and therefore allows the new Corsa to push the envelope of performance and grip beyond the preceding P Zero C’s technology.


The most significant feature of the P Zero Corsa is its radical new tread pattern, which is derived from a Pirelli racing tire used for the rain. The pattern is both directional and asymmetric in design. The asymmetric concept allows for an outer shoulder area that is almost racing slick for maximum adhesion under hard cornering. The directional cuts in the center and inside the tread create wet handling and anti-aquaplaning features for maximum wet or dry performance.


The concept behind having a directional/asymmetric configuration is that the tire construction is individually tailored for each corner of the car – something which is not easy for OE manufacturers to accommodate but which is of considerable interest to enthusiast drivers and a concept adopted by most aftermarket tuners and racers.


For a vehicle with the same tire size all-around, the P Zero Corsa range offers left- and right-side tires. For cars with different sizes from front to rear, there can be individual tires for each corner of the car to provide the ultimate in technical perfection and balance.


The new P Zero Corsa also features new concepts in construction, a by-product of the technology developed for the P Zero Rosso.


The current range of P Zero Corsa is produced in five sizes – 205/50/ZR17, 255/40/ZR17, 225/40/ZR18, 265/35/ZR18, and 285/30/ZR18. An expansion of the tire range is expected next year.


The advantage of the P Zero Corsa over its predecessor and competitors is an overwhelming improvement in the overall level of performance under wet and dry conditions, due mostly to new innovations in constructions, compound, and tread design from Pirelli’s motorsport development programs. The Corsa is tailored for spirited drivers who use their road cars for open-track events, or simply demand the highest levels of performance and grip that a DOT-approved tire can provide.

Woo hoo! They come in the size I need :-)
Let's just hope they're under $300 each.

Unfortunately, I think they are pretty expensive. They were around $350 each for 285/30-18 when I was looking into them for the OTC (which I am not going to make this year :().
