even with running a 255? just asking.. it seems like the tire will be muffin-top on that rim though, sticking out further than the rim... just a thought, i haven't seen a 255 on a 9.5 only on a 10 and it's pretty much a straight up sidewall...

On a 17x9.5 with 35mm offset you can run a 275/40r17 out back, Id recommend rolling the fenders, but *probably* wont be necessary. A 255 will fit no problem.

 

I'm planning on running 17x8.5 front and 17x9.5 rear. what offset should I go with? The wheels I'm looking at are available in a +15/+25/+35 front and +30/+35 rear....what is the best combo??

 

Nader, you're going to need the +35 for the front and I'd say either one of the offsets for the rear would be just fine. What rims are you looking at getting??

Hey guys.

I'm really kinda in the dark about wheel fitament, so I was hoping you could help me out. (Ted especially!)

I was wondering about some wheels that I want and which of the following would fit the best. I want to go with 17s, and dont mind if the front wheels are skinner than the rear. If they wont fit directly, it'd be awesome if you could let me know if i could use some small spacers to make them work. Ive been looking forever for a very particular wheel and I finally found it so I really want to make it work.

I would also like to have as wide of tires as possible while still fitting within the stock wheel well (250-300Rear, 225-240 Front?). I dont know if it matters but coilovers will be in the rear & front before these are installed (helps with clearance issues?). Also, I think these wheels were designed for FWD drive cars so i'm aware that the offsets are a little on the high side.

The Sizes & Offsets (bolt pattern is right for all of these):

17x8.5 -- +35, 48mm
17x8 -- +35, 48mm
17x7.5 -- +45, 48mm

P.S.: Oh yeah, Im not sure how vital it is.. but the hub bore is a little different for all of these. They range from 73 for the 8.5s to 67.1 for the 7.5s.

 

17x8.5 all the way around +35 all th way around is the best but still weak...

 

Out of all of those, the 17" x 8.0", +35 has the best chance to fit up front.
I still think it's too tight of a fitment, and be prepared to use a thin spacer to clear everything inside.
225 / 45 / 17 fits no problem on a 8.0" wide rim.
You can go with a 235 / 40 / 17, but you get tight up front.

In the rears, 17" x 8.5", +35 no problem.
255 / 40 / 17 back there no problem.


Don't worry about bore size.
The FC has one of the smallest bores in the industry...something like 59mm?

its not going to be a tight fit on a 235 and the 8.5 will work fine, with anything less than say a 9j there isnt much of a reason to staggar on these cars.

 

I had 17x10 +35 on the back with a 255/40, could have run a 265 if you could find one

and

17x8's +35 in the front with 235/40, I think a 8.5 would fit

How well did the 235/40 run up front and rubbing under hard cornering? I plan on running the exact same setup on the front, same offset as well. Also running Koni yellows/ GC coilovers.

Awesome thread. After searching and reviewing it all, I'm planning to buy some used Mustang GT wheels (17x8 w/ 30mm offset) and 225/45x17 Victoracers for my autocross setup. Anyone have any experience with this fitment?

I gather from the thread that I might be better served with an offset closer to 35mm, but I haven't been able to find any lightweight 17x8 wheels with this offsett for a reasonable price. If anyone has some info on that, I'd appreciate it.

What are others running for autocross in BSP class?

I'm planning on getting a set of 16x8 +40 wheels front and back, these fit on a 1990 FC right? what tire size should I be looking at? planning on stock 205/55, or should i go with 225, or does that even fit?

Mustang GT wheels fit just fine with a 225/45/17, I've got that and I track and autoross it and have never had any issues. You may want to get ARP studs though (especially with R's and autocross or track driving), as the stock ones are a little short, and you should get centering rings for them.

 

Hello I recently picked up a stagger'd set of rims for my RX, only problem is I dont know exactly if they will fit and if they will fit why tries would be appropiate to run. I read throught the first 10 pages of this spot and gave up as I could not find what i was looking for and there is no search thread feature other then Ctrl+F

Well here is what I have acquired...

Two 17x8 +32mm Offset wheels,
And Two 17x9 +45mm offset wheels.

They are Starform Basel 7's? wheels and they recently came off a FD so I know the bolt patter in correct.

I have not fit them to my car yet as they need new tires...
My questions...
1)What tires would I be looking for?
2)Do I need any spacers to make these wheels fit properly with no running?
Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

 

Yo Ted, you think i'd need to roll or widen the fenders with those widths and offsets? If I have to I will, but i'd like to keep it as stock as possible.
