Rears should be good to go.

Fronts... it depends on how much more clearance the coilovers give you(if any). More than likely you will need a 5mm spacer.

Fronts are fine.

Are you running wide fenders in the rear also? If not depending on what tire size you want to run, you will probably need to do a roll/pull.

 

Unless those wheels are 18's, 40's will throw your speedo off.

 

the numbers 45 and 50 aren't absolute numbers; they're percentages, to be specific, percentages of tire width.

225 * 50% is close to 245 *45%

No issues with the stock springs.

 

Not by that much, maybe less than half a mile per 400 miles based on the tripmeter which runs off the speedo cable.

Though, I guess the stock speedo cluster could be off by a little as well, about 5 mph down @ 80 mph. I guess it depends if you care to monitor your speeds on the highway to avoid tickets? Thought it miight be a consideration.

On an off note, I find it funny when people think aspect ratios are absolute numbers. I had a friend who wanted 225's and 275's for some odd reason, but when I told him to run 225/45 and 275/40, he said, "naw man, I can't run a 40 series in the back! I don't want my rear tire to be smaller than my front tire!"

I promptly laughed.

 

Will 16x8 -1 offset front... and 16x9 +38 offset rims clear suspension on my 4 lug se? What will be an ideal drop retaing streetability for a daily driver if they do fit? What would a good tire size be in both front and rear as well?

yes i searched and found contradicting info. I figured rted can just chime in and we will be on our way.. oh and realistically i will have 20mm fenders up front and 30s for quarters. If i need spacers in the rear what is the appropriate mm?

in the back it'll be sketchy, in the front, you'll need overfenders.

You can get by between a 3 - 8 mm spacer in the rear.

 

are the spacers going to be dangerous because there is less of the stud being used? I have heard some bad things about spacers.

Nope. Just recheck the torque specs once in a while.

 

You need enough thread engagement, if you don't have about 8-10 turns on the nut then you need longer studs.

This only retains to slip on spacers.

The other type of spacer, uses the stock stud length and it has

offset longer studs, so this is the safest method. Heres a picture.



Unless your running longer factory location studs with slip on spacers.

You can run up to 5mm safely on stock studs.

 

Not necessarily, some wheels have thicker hubs than others. For instance with the Mustang wheels that I'm currently using as street wheels you can't get the desired turns of the lugs to be safe even without a spacer. So it's erroneous to say that 5mm is safe on stock studs. A more accurate way of saying it would be that 5mm will probably be safe on stock studs, as long as you have enough thread engagement.

No matter what you're running you should always make sure that you can get enough turns on the lugs to be safe, because who knows, maybe the studs are a little on the short side and the wheel has a thick hub, that could lead to a dangerous situation.

Those style of spacers will also only be safer if they're of high quality. If they're cheap Chinese knock offs bought off eBay, then what's to say that they're not using inferior studs? That will be much more dangerous than a slip on spacer and longer ARP wheel studs.

OK, I read through maybe 15 or 20 pages of this and got cross eyed, I want to run 17 x 8 and 17 x 9 (both +35 offset) with 235/45 and 275/40 and HKS coilovers.

I think that's ok but anyone care to confirm? I don't mind rolling fender lips but I don't want anything stretched.

those are super common sizes/offsets. a quick search on any import wheel site will find you some. try tires.com or whatever.
