None, unless you're going to buy two different offsets or use spacers in front. In the back the 25 is your best bet, in the front you'll need the 12's and some wide fenders.

ok so i read about 10 pages on the front and back side of this thread and looked at some of the links. and still am not totally sure what i need for my car??

so here goes. car is on tokico shocks and eibach springs about a 1.25 front 1.5 rear drop. i still want to be able to rotate the tires but i want to go as wide as i can go. so am i right in saying 225 45r17 will be the widest that i can go? on a 17x7 rim? not sure of the offset that will be needed. i would also like it to be as flush as possible wit hthe fender (dont mind rolling them if i have to). going to be ordering wheels in the next 3-4 weeks so any input that you guys would have for me would be great!

I was hoping not to have to roll the back. I suppose I can get them and just find out.
i have 17x9 +24, and they sit about 1/3 inch from teh coilover. with 255's mounted, the tire has 1/4 inch at most. and some tires are wider than others. so i wouldnt go much higher than +20 with 255s up front, without test fitment anyway.
btw i have tein flexs. other shock bodies may offer different clearance, both better and worse.

The biggest "safe" fittment is a 17x8 with a 225/45/17 (sticking with the 17" rim size). I've seen pics of a 17x8 with 245/40/17's in it fitting, but that was with coilovers and rolled fenders. Keep the offset around 30mm and you should be fine.

If you want wider, then maybe something like a 17x8.5 25mm offset wheel and a
245/40/17 all around, you'll definetely need to roll in the front.

so if i get 17x8.5 w/245 40r17 25 offset ill be ok but have to roll the front fenders?

i also just got off the phone with the guy i bought the car from and the drop is only a inch.

one more thing. its a 87 base 7 is the bolt pattern 4x114.5??

You'll probably be ok. No guarantees. You could need thin spacers, you could need to not only roll, but pull the fenders out a bit too.

It's more or less impossible to stretch a tire on a 7" wheel. A 205 will sit fairly squarely and a 225 will be bulged out a bit. I'd go with 225/50/16 and 245/45/16 (if you can find any in this size, it's getting rarer), as they're about the same diameter as each other and about the same as stock.

with different widths, but same aspect ratio, the front tire will be shorter. with 50 front and 45 rear, they will be roughly the same height. doesnt really matter, other than personal preference. its an appearance thing. i personally like the taller rear tire, so i have 40 front and rear with staggered tires.

^What he said, but if you've got ABS (or on other cars, traction control, stability control, etc) then a change in the tire diameters can confuse the system and cause it to malfunction or at least cause diminished performance.

Having the slightly taller sidewall will also better protect the wheel from potholes and will give a better ride.

if the goal is equal diameters, than you want 50 in front and 45 in back.
peep a tire size calculator to help your sidewall selection.

ok guys i have a question that i haven't seen the exact answer to yet and was wondering if someone here would know... I have a 89 turbo II and i want to put some 17X8.5's on the front with 225/45R17's and on the rear i want 17X9.5 with either 265/40R17's or 275/4R17's... the only thing i'm wondering is what offsets do i need to make these work... and still look good! i don't want tires sticking out.. is it possible to throw a 275 in the rear or do i have to stick to a 265? and if someone could please help me out with the offsets that would be great! thx

Guess it is my turn. This is not a "Can I stretch this tire over this wheel question."

I am looking into building a road course only FC (probably w/ an LS1) so I really want to run 275 all around. Looking at all of the offsets though, it looks like tires can't be swapped front to rear. Oh well, guess that means a staggered setup would work the best. I also know I will need wider front fenders; I planned on getting the type 338's from raceonusa.com for front and rear.

So with those fenders what would be the optimal setup? I would run some generous negative camber upfront and have coilovers.

Thanks for the help.

Camber should be between -3.5 and -4.0 in the front, and between -1.0 to -1.5 rear, 255/40/17 on 17 x 9.5 or 9's, +15 in the front, 275/40/17 on 17 x 10.5 or 10's, +15 in the rear. Use the 9, 10 combination if you're scared of not clearing the inside. You could also get +10 offset wheels instead.

owen has 285's all around, with plenty of room for more, using tripoint fenders. i dont think i've seen anyone use 275's with just 20mm flares. 255 is about the limit up front, unless you get the fitment absolutely perfect, which will vary with different coilovers.
fenders aside, 17x10 somewhere around +10 will allow 275s up front.
https://www.rx7club.com/suspension-wheels-tires-brakes-20/ssr-sp1-18x10-all-around-fc-pics-652947/

and if you wanna go 255/275, im gonna have to give 9/10.5 mustang wheels a plug. theyre soo cheap and fit great. with 255's in front, a 5mm spacer is a good idea, but probably not required (sits damn close to coils).

Thanks for the insight on the camber and fitment. I like the idea of the cheap mustang wheels (assuming the cobra wheels?). I thought the HiFlex type-338 on raceonusa.com were the tripoint replicas? This body kit. http://www.raceonusa.com/index.asp?P...OD&ProdID=6983
