What sized tires?
I would go for the +20.
I don't think the +30 will fit, but it depends on tires.
You can go with with the +15 to push the wheels more out to go flush with the fenders.

I am waiting on my 17x8(f) and 18x9(r) adr kasai's to arrive and i am going to put
235-40-17 on the front and 265-35-18 out back, will the work for me.

 

what size tires are recommended for 17x8(f) and 18x9 in the back, i was thinking about going with 265-35-18 out back and 235-40-17 up front................

 

i guess i should also tell you guys that the rims are +35 offset

 

To me, an 8" wheel with +35 with a 235 wide tire is too tight up front, but others will argue it should clear.

I've never seen a 230 wide tire.
Even with a 225, I still think it'll be too tight.

would 17x7's with a +40 offset fit nicely on front and back of an s5 t2? i believe a +48 offset is the only other option for the wheel im looking at.

also whats the max size in width i could run on those? i dont want the tire to stick out past the fender, the fenders are being rolled and pulled out SLIGHTLY.

That's like stock dimensions - 7" wide, +40 offset.
225/45/17 tires should fit good.
I wouldn't go wider than a 235 on a 7" wide wheel.

whats the downside to putting a 255 on a 7" wide rim? im just curious, i know at least an 8" wide rim is reccommended.

I have changed up and got a 18x8 +38 for the front and sticking with 18x9 +35 in the rear. What tire sizes would you guys recommend for the front and rear tires???

 

im curious, im looking for that slight "jdm" look with the sidewalls stretched. i just want a slight stretch, with 17x8 with a 225, should i be able to get that effect to a certain extent?

 

It'll have that effect a little, but 225 is pretty common on a 8". I had a 225 on a 17 x 8.5 up front and it wasn't to drastic of "JDM" appearence.... Actully DTM's have done that for years... Its not a great idea to go to much though (FYI).. I've seen like 245 on a 10" and thats not a real good idea. The whole idea of a wider wheel is to fit a wider tyre...The only benefit to a narrow tyre on a wide rim is it'll stiff'n thing up a bit and appear to handle better...It also may work better for drift'n too, but I can't answer that with honesty cause I don't do that style of driving....Its neat though

 

so why doesnt someone make a chart or something to get this even more organized I would but there isnt time to make a chart on the computer when I am supposed to be doing CAD designs

 

It depends on what your idea of "slight" is.
I think 225 on an 8" wide wheel is too straight for you.
I think you're looking for a 205 on an 8" more of what you're looking for.
The problems is 205 wide tires are very limited in terms of aspect ratio for 17" diameters.

So why not keep the 225/45/17 and run a 9" wide wheel?

I do have a small chart on my website, but it's for front fitments.
I even have a bigger chart on tire sizing versus stock on most of the popular tire sizes available.

The problem is that wheel and tire specifications are not standardized.
I'm not talking about the size nomenclature, but the actually dimensions in real life.
A 8" wide wheel will not be exactly the same from rim lip to rim lip for every 8" wheel.
A 225/45/17 sized tire will not be exactly the same in dimensions for every tire that size.
This makes it next to impossible to give accurate recommendations.
My numbers are used as a guide only - I tend to be conservative on the offset with ample clearance on the inside.

There are some 18's that I want to get real bad(they only come in 18's)
has a nice lip and design
I have to call them and see what offsets they offer them in.....

But I would like to run 18x7.5 in the front
and 18x9.5 in the back

Tires for the Front could be (225/40/18) or
(215/35/18)

Tires for the Rear I would like

265/35/18

Any Tips as to what offsets to shoot for? (range)
I would hate to spend $1,500 only to get wheels that don't fit right

ok, this is my final decision based on the all the hours of info ive gathered based on this thread and everywhere else i could source out info from. Keep in mind i do have coilovers so i have a little extra room. Im going to 17x8 for the fronts w/ a 25mm offset and a 17x9 in the rear with 25 mm offsets. Im going to run 225 in front and 225 in rear, possibly 235's should this be ok?

 

You want the stretch look for the rear?
If not, go 255/40/17 for that 17x9 in the rear!

And how much space can you gain w/ smaller diameter springs. For example, coilovers. Because you said about 5mm room from the inside of the wheel/tire on the front of the FC stock.
Or are the wheelwell liners the limiting factor?

 

I would try to shoot for a 8" wide, +30 minimum, with a 235 wide tire up front.
Your posted combination is kinda tight in the inside for me.

As for rear, I haven't seen any 275 street tire would fit back there.
If a 275 would fit, it has to be absolute dead-on on the offset.


In the front, it's not the spring that's the limited factor - it's the lower street perch.
For the rear, it's the spring diameter and the trailing arm that goes to the front.
Both are about the same clearance for tires.
So even if you drop down to a 2.25" diameter spring in rear, you still need to worry about the trailing arm.

The other thing I don't like is the big stagger from front to back.
235 F / 255 R is about as big of a stagger I would go.
If you're going 275 rear, I would like to have at least a 245 or 255 up front.
