Nitto vs. Bf Goodrich vs. Et Streets

Does anyone have experiences with these tires? Which are safer for the rear differential and how do they compare for 60' times? Posting what 60' times you have ran and the tire would be very helpful.
It is my understanding that dag radials are worse for the differential then the et streets...is that true?
I want the best 60' time without braking anything thus i would be willing to sacrifice the 60' time for less of a chance of breaking somehting.

The ET Streets will hook almost like slicks, they have sidewalls designed to wrinkle @ launch. This improves traction and also absors driveline shock. This also makes the tires VERY unstable to run on the road @ high speeds, or turning. Both the nittos and the BFG's will only be marginally better than any normal hihg-performace tire.

QUESTION.....

WHAT is the DIFFERENCE between....

ET STREETS

and

DRAG RADIALS

what are the nittos and bfg considered as?
sorry...:(

matty 10-31-02 07:33 AM

nittos and bfg are drag radials.

so kkekeisen....i think you are saying that the et streets are both better for 60'time and also safer on the differential...is that correct?

sk8world 10-31-02 12:35 PM

ET streets are the way to go if you have a extra set of wheels to mount them on. Not good for regular driving like the nittos or bfg's. So if you want a drag tire only go with the et's. I used them for the same reason, I did not want the wheel hop. These eliminate the wheel hop plus hook great. I never really pushed it out of the hole as they will cause you to break the rear end with repeated hard launches.

tell me what you mean by not pusing it out of the whole...what would u launch at? what kind of 60' time? Also how the hell do you do a burnout?

ZeroBanger 10-31-02 05:17 PM

You know I broke my differential 2 weeks ago with Nitto 555R's.

matty 11-01-02 07:20 AM

everyone is telling me to stay away from drag radials and to go with et streets.

ZeroBanger 11-01-02 09:25 AM

I think ET streets are very bad for driving on the street though? I'm no expert. I drive my nittos street and track.

I dunno

matty 11-01-02 10:00 AM

i hear that too...i am gonna get an extra pair of rims

I rode in a 12 second Chevelle a few weeks ago on the street. He had the Et streets on his car. We took a a freeway 65MPH corner at 85 and the car felt very unstable! did not like the feeling of the rear tires. I would deffinetly recomend having an extra set of wheels

sk8world 11-01-02 11:38 PM

When I say easy out of the hole I mean I still rode the clutch out through 1st gear instead of just droping the clutch.

As far as burnouts go you will just have to learn to power brake it. To be honest I never did it. I would just roll past the water and due a 1st gear burn out to clean the tires off. I am sure if I pushed it and did a big burn out getting them nice and hot and launching harder I could got into the 11's but did not think it was worth the risk! My best 60 foot was 1.8 with a 12.3 1/4.
