New Volk 57 'F' Pros

No doubt alot of you have seen this already and Volk's naming convention is bound to cause reference confusion with the 'regular' 57 Pros and the 57Fs - the new 57F Pros:

Essentially the 57 Pros, but looks like in three piece instead of two. Wicked deep lip for those who care (good Lord, 102mm (5 inches) lip on the 57 Pros 18X10 +38!)

Rishie - availability, and how much in standard 18" FD sizes? Have they issued an offset/size list yet? thanks!

WOW! Those are beautiful. Im glad I held off getting new wheels until after the suspensions done. I'd also be interested in how much of a price difference there is compaired to the regular 57Pros.

ptrhahn 01-29-03 08:31 AM

Why oh why must Volk put that cheezy universal lug pattern on most of their nice wheels?

AMEN!

Brentis 01-29-03 10:45 AM

weights? I don't recall seeing ever seening the 57pro's..

I like both finishes!! What is that finish on the plain 'ole 57pro? - polished or chromed?

One thing for sure - I have wheel envy.

Actually, in this case it looks like the extra holes are Volk's obssesive need to trim every last gram hehe. Only 5 of the ten 'holes look to be lug holes - the other 5 appear to be just 'holes'. Does kinda take away from the clean design though.

I'm betting polished. Can't see them going thru all the trouble of making forged centers just to make it heavy with chrome again. ;)

Yes, that is not a multi-boltpattern. You try to put lugs thru there and you won't be very successful. Just how it is. They haven't released any official information. But this summer we will have a whole bunch of new wheels based on older styles, but new and improved.

Yeah those FPros are sharp, but those bronze wheels in the dead center of the 2nd picture really catch my eye...would look great on my red FD :)

Volk needs to completely revamp their naming system, it is WAYYYYYY to confusing now...

dclin 01-29-03 01:28 PM

Really digging the Volk GTUs:

Is this a 'summer' release too, Rishie? BTW, ignore my last depressing PM. I'm back to my indecisive ways.:D

Vintage Red Touring 01-30-03 03:20 PM

sent you a PM Rishie

Thanks!

David

Hiccup - think we need to keep this one alive.

Brentis 02-04-03 12:35 PM

Sent an email to a volk distriutor in CA on the polished and gun metal wheel in the pic above. He said 18x8 and 18x10's would run $1900 - sounds like a pretty good deal... Said he probably would need to order them from the homeland...

thoughts?

Are you sure that they are not thinkng of the regular 57Pros (two piece, vs the three peice of hte 57F Pros)? It's my understanding that the 57F Pros have not been released (in the US anyways).

In either case, Rishie can beat that price shipped (assuming we are talking about the 57 Pros - again, this stupid naming system that Volk has) to your door:

I want the 57pro's that are polished - the ones in the upper top picture. They are not the 3 piece - are those not released as well?

Also quoted me $800 for Nitto 555r's mounted & balanced.

Where in texas are you - I'm in Plano - oh yeah Rudy Bahktiar = fine....

Hey Brentis,

I actually just got off the phone with Mackin, and they confirmed that the 57F Pros (3 piece) are not yet available, with no eta (just 'in the near future').

http://www.mackinindustries.com/info.html

I imagine that if you join up with the group buy in my previous post, you should be able to get the polished version (as that the group buy is for custom offsets, made on an order by order basis direct from Japan - not the regular offsets/finishes Mackin normally stocks).

Hope that helps.

Daniel

Oh, and I'm in Houston and rudi=:yum:

A better pic of the 'polished' 57Pros (not 100% its polished, but more then likely)

57S

I guess I'm the only one that likes the 7-spoke 57s? 5-spoke's played out for me :)

ptrhahn 02-04-03 05:14 PM

Manny,
If you wanna go 7-spoke, these are much nicer IMHO... they are just hard to get good info on:

The translation of the text in the above link does not offer much, but at least it has the offset chart. I remember seeing somewhere they are forged.:)

ptrhahn 02-05-03 12:25 PM

They are forged, and according to the Prodrive chart, come in FD-friendly offsets (although the ones they actually list for the FD don't seem right).... The tirerack carries them, but they don't have (read: FD sizes) all the sizes last time i checked.

SleepR1 02-05-03 08:53 PM

Prodrive

Are those for Scubys? No NSX wheels for me. Volk 10-spoke CE28N or those 57ses :)

Cheers! 02-05-03 11:19 PM

damn it! whatever happened to the quick reply box?

oh well...

they are not really scubbie wheels... OZ racing just happens to sponsor SUB and they made a line wheels that are very strong... i like those wheels very much... tirerack only carries offsets and bolt patterns for sUB though

ptrhahn 02-06-03 11:02 AM

I agree... a good looking, lightweight, affordable, forged wheel (of which there are VERY few) is good enough for me.

I don't think they are really a subaru or NSX wheel... just a japenes manufactured wheel.

They are pretty high on my list since Volk always manages to find a way to ruin their wheels. They are either, ugly, have the universal bolt pattern (or something that looks like it), or only come in some f-ed up color like white and bronze.

DavidR 02-06-03 08:42 PM

Rishie- Do you have any information on these and other any new Volk wheels. Please PM me.
