Need Some QUICK ADVICE - FD3S Tires

Ok heres the dilema:

Stock 16" wheels. Upgrading next year to 17-18 Volk CE28's. But for now I need some new rubber. Car has Tein Flex Coilovers, with Manufacturer's height suggestion setting. Also have Tri-Point Sway Bars and stock brakes, Jim Labs bushings.

I don't want to spend a fortune because I will be getting new wheels next spring.

I would like a 245/45-16 all around but I am not sure if they will fit on the front with the .5-1" drop. I don't mind going with 225/50-16 if I have to. But tires have to be very sticky, I have a street port, T-78, the works.
I'm not worried about wear, car is never in rain or snow.

I noticed Kumho 712's are a great price. Anyone have luck with these with a similar setup? And will the 245's fit the front? Trying to make this happen before RotorFest in NJ!

Thanks
Ron

OK it seems people have a 1" drop and have 245/45-16 all around with good results.

NOW I just need the tire advice, Kumho 712, S-03, AVS Sport, or AVSES100?

C'mon guys help me decide! Need to order today!

Thanks

You need to get better tires than what you are looking at, even if they cost more.

If you want a good cheap tire -- Kumho MX. Otherwise, the usual suspects will be good -- Yoko AVS Sport, BFG KD, Bridge S-03, Toyo T1-S. 245/45 16 will fit fine.

Hey ron...whats up man?

i have the toyos t1s....real nice light tire. They look bulky on stock rim though.

rynberg,
Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated!

Matt,
You going down to NJ ROTORFEST This weekend?
I just installed Tein Flex Coilovers, Tri-Point Sway Bars front&rear, Jim Lab's Unobotanium Bushings, 2 supra Pumps, and -6 braided fuel lines to each rail. You gotta see the car now! Call me up. 996-GUNS

Just installed a set of Kumho 712s in 245/45-16 on my FD and I hate them. The rears should be ok for drift tires, but the fronts do not hold a corner the way I want. They get greasy rather quickly from just some hard street driving, feedback is pretty hard to interpret.. They don't "feel" good, so I am looking for a new set of tires/wheels so I can change out the fronts..

If I could do it over, I'd buy one more set of crappy used tires while I save, then get the Kumho V700's I wanted...

If you find the right dealer, Toyo's aren't that much more than shitty tires. I paid $175/per for 255/35/18, and $195/per for 275/35/18.

if you're going to chump out because you're going to replace them, i'd just chump out hard-core and find a set of used take-offs on the partstrader or something.

I have some Yoko AVS on my FD. I have been pleased with the tires performance. Very good grip and nice tread life. Very little road noise as well.

I'm still very happy with the Kumho MX. They are a good tire; completely different than the 711, 712 etc.
