Good choice :). I was looking at GT1s before a great deal on Fikses fell in my lap. I first saw them on a black FD at KD Rotary back in 2001. They looked so beautiful on the car....

Get the GT-1s in 9 x 17, 45-mm offset. Tire Rack offers this size for the FD Rx7 as a rear fitment only, but believe me and ttb, that the 9 x 17 with 255/40-17 will fit all the way around with no rubbing problems. Good luck!

well i was thinking of 18X9 all the way around but im not sure if I can get them that way. I havent desided if Im going to get either 17 or 18. My car is down right now and went back with stockers. Im going to see how the car rides and then I will make my decision

what the widest tire I can go with? Is a 265 possible?

GoodfellaFD3S 07-04-03 01:52 PM

I recommend 17s. My Fikses are 17s (and pretty lightweight) but once the damn s03s (which are crazy heavy) are mounted on them, the combo weighs quite a bit. And I'll tell ya what, I can definitely feel it in first gear acceleration and initial throttle response. If you go with 18 inch GT1s, you'll just experience these problems, but worse.

you could put a 265 in the back on the 17x9, but I wouldn't go wider than 255 up front.

so what offset do I need to get? 17's and 18's?

rynberg 07-04-03 03:30 PM

Sleep told you in his post, +45 offset for all four 17x9 or 18x9. Run 255/40 17s as Rich and Manny suggested.

Has anybody mounted ssr gt3's on their fd? I was thinking about getting these, but they only come in 18s and I think that I will be rubbing with a lowered fd. I think they look better than the gt1s but I would like to know about any problems people have with them before i buy them. By the way, the sizes i'm thinking about getting are 18x8.5 front and 18x10 rear. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks,
Ben

I was going to do the same until i noticed how much the gt3s wiegh. 29 lbs for the 18X10. I will agree that the gt3s look better.

 Wowzers. I'd wager that a stock rim with the tire mounted doesn't weigh much more than that.....

Stock wheel with 225/50-16 P-Zeros (R2 tires) weigh 38 lbs with tires inflated to 32 psi...

Weight adds up. Add a 30-lb 285/30-18 tire to a 29-lb GT-3 (10 x 18); inflate the tires to 32 psi; and you'll have 60 lbs each wheel/tire in back. Hope you have Captain Farrell's "go go" juice to roll on bling bling wheels like the GT-3s ;) Hey Cap, how much does a HMV wheel/tire weigh LOL ;) Probably about 60 lbs each, ehh LOL ;)

The GT-1s are lighter @ ~18 to 19 lbs for 9 x 17. A 255/40-17 tire will weigh between 25 and 28 lbs.

I have SSR Integral A2s in 9 x 17 with 255/40-17 tires. My combo weighs 45 lbs wheel/tire,with tires inflated to 32 psi.
