maybe a c2 rim issue

This car has a racing Hart C2 multipiece and the problem is the it leaks air. The owner has said that the tire has been checked out and that it's not the tire. But then he says nothing is wrong with the rim either. Mind this is a front right we are talking about. A 18x8, maybe 18x8.5.

he says he has taken to three places and nobody can find the problem. However, he has put silicon along the inside lip bythe tire and it stopped the leak for a little while. The bottom line is that the leak still occurs to an extint of filling the tire with air every other day.

The car hit a pot hole about 2 years ago and the rim was bent back but he says thats not the issue becuase it leaked before then. So i went to the shop he took it to. When he bought the car it looks like he took it in for a wheel/rim leak.

These rims aren't cheap and i would hate to replace one.
The cheapest i have found is ~$650

[EDiT] As matter of fact if i had to replace i thought about just getting ADR Classics for it.

All you do is inflate the tire and submerge the whole thing in a pool of water. The location of the leak becomes obvious.

I'm trying the determine whether it's a rim issue or a tire issue. Because one's obviously cheaper than another.

That's why you take the entire rim and tire and submerge it into water. Air escaping makes bubbles and point you to where the leak is....

Simple. Cheap.

you can also use a spray solution of soapy water. You will see bubbles pointing to the leak.

he took it to 3 places, but did any of the places bother to remove the tire? If they can't find the problem at 3 different tire places I would say that he either lied, or the tire stores didn't bother to put much effort into checking it out.

I am thinking that the tire was never seated on the rim properly and was also never removed by any of the shops.
