Koni shock repair
I have to send a Koni shock to Tripoint Engineering to have it rebuilt. Their standard turn-around time is 3-4 weeks. I know they do first-rate work, but has anyone used another Koni repair shop that has a faster turn-around time, but still does the job properly?
(Moderator- I posted in suspension site, but not enough viewers to get a reply) |
Have you contacted Koni USA? They might do it themselves.
Might also just hit up Google, I'm sure there are a number of places that service Koni shocks as a lot of racers use them. Dale |
Out of curiosity, did yours start leaking? I went to adjust mine recently and one started leaking from the top. I assume this is covered by the lifetime warranty? I will probably contact Koni anyways but wanted to see if you had the same issue.

Koni shocks
pito13b- I bought the shocks as part of a coilover setup on ebay, so the guantee is not applicable here. The leak is on the top and affects only the compression stroke. Rebound sillhas some damping effect.

Tripoint rebuilt and revalved my Koni Sport adjustables shocks. Turnaround was about 1 week over the Christmas holiday. They were probably slow that time of year though.
There is also a rebuilt facility somewhere in the middle of the country - Truechoice so that would cut down on the shipping time. |
From Koni's website:
In addition to the KONI Service Center in Hebron, KY, there are three KONI authorized rebuild facilities in North America. They are TrueChoice in Hilliard, OH (800-388-8783), Pro Parts West in Canoga Park, CA (818-888-8904), and Performance Shock Inc. @ Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA(800-965-5664). FYI: I wanted to get my used ones rebuilt but the guy said it's just better to get it new. Especially with the 25% off Koni sale right now - but it ends today! Seriously, like right now.....hurry! They are $136 on sale compared to $181 on TireRack. Rebuilding it is $125 before shipping costs. Easy math. I have these used Koni's in the FS if anyone's interested. I went with Pettit's Stage IIs. Good luck. |
Koni shocks
gracer7-rx7 and Zoolander- thanks for the info. I will check on the time for the other repair sites. I would get new ones except I have the second valve installed on each for the compression stroke adjustment. Addition of the valve is about $100, so I get away cheaper by having the shock rebuilt.
