knocking noise from rear
 

yes, I just started hearing this knocking noise coming from the right rear wheel, sus, or maybe a wheel bearing. Usually between shifts. I know i need shocks but this seems like something while the car in movement. I'm thinking its the wheel bearing, what to u guys think? thanks,, ANt

I bought the wheel bearings WoW there BIG.. ENCLOSED PIC

it's the front diff mount. 99% sure.

(the front mount on the rear diff, there is no diff in the front :) )

Is this car an FC or FD? If it is an FC, the front diff mount is a good place to look, but I suspect it is an FD by your avatar (remember to specify next time, please).

There are lots of things that can clunk on the rear of the FD. They are:
- pillow balls (http://www.maxcooper.com/rx7/how-to/...lls/index.html)
- toe links (get replacements from http://www.m2performance.com/)
- wheel bearings (it looks like you've got this one covered)

The rear wheel bearings look like a big PITA to replace. You have to remove the rear hub carrier (a.k.a. upright) and have them pressed out and the new ones pressed in. Also, I'd have a better idea of the bearing size if I just knew how tall that little figure ws. ;)

Yeah the bearings are just that.. PITA...And my lil man is about a pinkys lengh..hehe :)

I did my right rear wheel bearing recently to replace a wheel stud. The bearing itself wasn't bad for the machine shop to press out of the hub carrier, but I couldn't get the axle to come out after removing the nut. Heating the inner bearing race with a torch and repeated heavy blows with a hammer finally got it loose.

I'm pretty sure my FD is doing the same thing as yours...please post what works if you figure it out. Thanks.

I have a similar noise in my FD and the High-Pro shop told me it was the rear lower control arm bushings.

Anyone know where I can get those bushings?

what was the update?
