Just got the tripoint swaybar wooooo SWEET!!

I just got the tripoint swaybar and am waiting for the widefoot mounts.

When I talked to Tripoint they asked what size bar I wanted.... I dunno

So he asked me what my setup was. JIC Coilovers...and plan to autocross and track as much as I can.

He recommended the .188 sway bar and 1.88" tube... man is that thing BEAFY!!!!

I saw that Max Cooper (on his website) has a 1.25" tube....does the difference essentially stiffen the front setup setting up for more understeer?

The reason I am asking is if I get the BBS RGr rims in 18x10 r and 18 x 9 front fitment will my car tend to understeer thus needing me to buy another swaybar for the rear???

I was thinking about running stiffer sway bars but softer springs. I had heard this before as an attempt to maintain ride comfort but still provide roll control - does anybody have experience with such a setup?

hmmm...I hope max cooper scans this??? i kinda would like some opinions...maybe I should have reworded the title of the thread :(

7racer,

I think I have the same torsion bar as you, which is a 1.25" bar with a 0.188" wall thickness. To go stiffer, they just use a thicker wall thickness rather than a larger diameter bar. You could measure the diameter of the bar pretty quickly to verify the size. I think the Racing beat modular bar had a larger 1.375" OD, but I am pretty sure all the Tri-Point modular bars are 1.25" OD.

My car is relatively neutral right now with 450F/350R springs, the Tri-Point 1.25"/0.188" sway bar in the middle setting, stock 93 rear bar, and 245F/265R tires. I have the 2-position rear bar from Tri-Point, but I want to get out and try the car on the track before I decide if I am going to stiffer the rear or not.

Max...

thanks a bunch...as always...

I go check it after work today. The bar thickness was what tripoint listed on their invoice to me.
