how to comfortable lower the car?
 

I am getting ready to put on these 17
' volks I have and I want t o decrease wheel well gap.
I cant afford a full suspension set up.
I also would really not want to screw up my current ride comfort.
Anyone wann reccomend a good spring that is comprable to stock as far as ride comfort. I can deal with a bit rougher. But im not looking for a brusied ass bone every time I cross train tracks.

Don't do that. Not a good plan. I would suggest replacing your shocks with the Koni Yellows. Those have a lower spring perch will can be lowered about half an inch. This will allow you to lower the vehicle but retain the factory springs.

You can buy my Eibach Pro Kit Springs w/ Tokiko 5 way adjustable struts. They have lots of miles though...60,000 I'l sell them cheap. $450 shipped.

If you don't want my old set-up, I would still look into the Eibach Pro-kit progressive springs if you are looking for a "comfortable" ride after lowering the car. I just switched to M2 Coilovers w/ the same Tokiko Struts(on the samer settings). These M2 Coil Overs are very stiff on the City Streets where there are pot holes and stuff.

I have a newb question on coilovers. Say I buy Tein HA's, do they come with EVERYTHING you need to replace the shocks/springs?? I read people having coilovers with "X" shocks, etc. Just curious, I'm new to the coilover deal.

Don't get the HA, get the Flex if you must. It's more streetable, but you can lower the car without loosing suspension travel.

Racing Beat springs are only a 7% increase. Is that even noticable? RB/Koni's should do the trick. Although I would try to get a price on Bilstein's incase you can splurge.

Dave, I'm running Koni's on eibach springs, lowered, and my ride comfort is fine (though you still can't escape the fact that you will feel that road). I'm still on the stock rims, but I will be going 17 as well.

You should never heat up the springs with a torch since you'll be changing the spring constant of the spring. It'll give you erradic handling traits. It's better just to go out and get aftermarket springs with shocks...

Heating springs is unsafe they can sag later. If you quench them incorrectly they can break. Not good. Cutting them is not the best way, less coils and the rate goes up the stiffness goes up . That gives a harsh ride.
