Height issue on FC.
 
Hi guys, I just want to find a answer for my suspension right now. I'm currently lowered with Tokico Blue with Tein S. Tec spring. I know that the original height of our FC is that the front is lower than the back. How come after I changed the shocks and spring the height is still the same. I want the height to be even not like now the front is lower than the back although the car is still lowered. Is that due to performance issue, does that makes the car control better in that stand. Also is coilover is the only solution to make the car eve and better?

My stock suspension used to have that stance too rear taller than frunt. Then i replaced it with tokico blues with eibach springs and the height evened out. TOday i replace the tokico Blues/eibach springs with Tein Type X coilovers, with tein base height setting, and the car is slightly lower but same flat stance.

Having the rear higher than the front is reffered to as "rake" and it can affect the handling balance of the car and it can affect the underbody aero (if there's any there to start with).

Ground Controls will allow you to even out the ride height, but they'll be unable to give you springs that are soft enough for the Tokico Blues to handle, as they're barely stiffer than stock and the least they'll be able to do is probably around twice as stiff as stock or more. That'll mean the car will be "bouncy" and the handling won't be soo good as the springs will overpower the shocks. It's sort of like having a big thumping V8 and having it try to put the power down on some 185 all season tires, not going to work, you need them to effectively work together. My advice would be to sell the setup you've got now and to get something like KYB AGX's and GC's as a good budget setup. Be careful of lowering the rear too much (more than about 1") or you'll get too much camber back there and you'll wear out your tires really quick if you don't get some camber compensating pieces to adjust it out.

does the stance of riding the front lower than the back handles better or make it worst? Beside its on better suspension than stock, mine with Tein S tec with tokico blue. thanks guys

It's not so much an issue of "better" or "worse", it's a matter of different. Sometimes people will slightly tweak the rake on a car to make small adjustments in the balance that can't simply be tuned out with roll bar selection or adjustment.

Basically the balance change comes down to the changing ride height affecting the roll couple at that end. Usually as you lower the car the roll couple increases, so you'll get more roll, which will have the effect of softening the car at that end, getting more grip, shifting the balance to the other end IIRC. In the front the roll couple will increase as the car's lowered, I'm not sure about the rear, but I'd expect it to be the same.

To know for sure about the rear, one would have to take a bunch of measurements and figure out the geometry of the rear at various ride heights to know exactly how the ride height affects the roll couple and therefore the handling. Then it'll all change when using an adjustable subframe rod to adjust rear camber as it moves the inside pivot points of the semi trailing arms, which affects the camber curve and the roll center. Taking out camber by raising these pickup points will decrease the roll couple by raising the roll center. I think this will reduce negative camber gain, but I'm not sure on that, but that will also affect the handling balance.
