I have the same pads on brembo's and they got no weird smell.
Did you know that before you drive agressively and do hard stops you need to brake the pads in for couple of hundrets of miles!
They will last you longer and perform better in a long runn.

i followed the beddding/burning instructions and did about 10 stops from 40mph. after that i drove it about 130 miles on the freeway to the track. at the track i got the smell. haven't driven it since to see if it still smells.

I never go to the track so I woulnd't know but I beleive that either they not broken in yet, or they just not good track pads. I been doing alot of road racing and other kind of agressive driving and did't see them smoke or noticed any bad smell.

yea, i'm thinking maybe i didn't brake them in the first time with those 10 stops.

I don't think you should worrie much, the way we drive our FD's they'll get brocken-in in no time... lol.

if your stopping too had, you could be burning the tires or any grease that was on the rotors. is there any squeaking? it should go away in a day or two. if not something is wrong. the steering wheel is not shaking when you stop is it?

If they were bedded properly you should get no smell; I never do with the HP+.

Make certain you fully retracted the rear caliper pistons or that you don't have a stuck piston that is making the pad drag even when the brakes aren't applied. That will easily make them smell.

Bologna. It only takes a few miles and a dozen or so stops and everything is good to go. A full race pad will take more time to bed in but certainly not hundreds of miles; more like a dozen.

yea...you have to bedded it in properly.

do few medium speed stops, and two hard stops(ABS engaged).
Then cool down the brake immediately, just park it , wait for 15-30 minutes. when you put your hand to it, feels sticky like honey.
Then you are done, just drive normal after that.

a freind of mine has the hps+ on brembo and they squeel like crazy. I take it you guys arn't getting any squeel? This isn't just a little squeek, it's really loud.

DamonB 05-30-04 11:50 AM

No, mine do squeal. That is normal for the HP+. They should not however smell like overheated brakes at anytime.

I've used them on roadcourses to the point of fading them and they never smell.
