Hankook Ventus V12 Evo
 

So been doing a little bit more research.. i was going to go for the Star Spec Z1 tires for my rims this summer. But upon more digging around, i came across these awesome tires, with a amazing price tag attached. Check out this in-depth review.... :icon_tup:

The Star spec's came out on top, but not by a alot, followed by the V12 Evo's. And the Evo's being 50 dollars cheaper per tire, im going to buy these come Monday. Ill post my review on these, but by the rave reviews, im sure ill love them.

They are a very good tire for the money. Many people in the BMW crowd have used them. The tread pattern isn't as aggressive as some of the tires offered today, but the performance is good.

I was interested in these also for the price after reading the article in Car&Driver. Definitely let us know how it turns out.

i ran the old ventus tire from hankook (rs2z212) it was amazing. i have not used the new one but the old one was super grippy. i had them on my old ep3 civic, lot of grip even with fwd. hankook ftw!!!!!

I ordered a set for my FD... they are sitting in my garage right now.
I hope to get them installed this week. I'll let you what i think about them.

Yea there supposed to be one hell of a tire! ill be putting my order in tomorrow... and once installed on my ms-01's ill let ya know what i think!

seems too good to be true. the only test ive seen is that C&D review, so I'm gonna stay skeptical until some more stuff comes out.

NT05s were not in that test either... that is odd.

They set a certain price point for the tires.

just got my set :) can't wait to receive my new set of wheels and try them out!

I'll be running the following sizes:

Front : 18 x 9.5 - 245/35/18
Rear : 18 x 11 - 295/30/18

I'll report back when I get to spin em!

NT05s are cheaper than the Dunlops.

Nor the RE-11, nor the RS-3... They stuck with the 225/45/17 tire, of which these are not made.

I don't doubt they perform well as a great street tire, but I don't think it's fair to make it seem like the Dunlops aren't worth the money. .5 seconds on a 60 second auto-x course is nothing to scoff at. Also, the Dunlop is fully capable of being a track tire, whereas the Hankook would likely dissolve after a lap or two.


All that being said I've been looking at these tires to put on the 7 for "fun" duty, but only because I'll be stepping up to V710s for auto-x.

I just got a set to replace my Falkens FK451 on RZ wheels

17x8 Front 245/40-17
17x8.5 Rear 255/40-17

As long as they perform as well and last as long as the Falkens I'll be happy.

So, anyone have any reviews on these? I'm kinda looking to pick up some 255/35 for 9.5 and 295/30 for 10.5 and wondering how these would fit, and also how you guys like them.

I have them on my FD. AWESOME tires. you wont be disappointed.

I've had them for some time now. Compared to the Falkens I had before i feel like they stick better so I can turn faster and they don't break loose as easily.

Could be a new tire vs bald tire thing though...

Naw, they are definitely a better tire than the FK451's.

I have a set on my STi in 255/35/18. So far, so good. Its a pretty quiet tire as well. I was between these and the star specs and the price sealed it for me. Pretty happy with the performance as well.

hate to bring this up from the dead but what pressure are you guys running for track on these, reviving this thread cuz everyone always says "search, search"

^ I wouldn't use Hankook V12 EVO on the track. RS3 sure but not V12.

The Ventus V12 Evo is a summer tire for daily driving. The Star Spec is a high-performance street tire designed for driving on the track and autocross. They're two completely different animals. The pattern, compound, and sidewall stiffness is all very different.

The RS3 is a better choice for a hard-core sports car fan if you care about price. The Ecsta XS would be similar. Ignoring price, the Dunlops are better. Bridgestones and Advans are just... expensive.

Dollar for dollar, the Federal RS-R is an even better deal, and the performance is almost as good as any similar tire that costs twice as much.

Less aggressive tires like the Federal SS595, the V12, or the BF-G G-Force will last longer, be quieter, and be slightly cheaper, though. But I wouldn't want to autocross or do a track day on them if I didn't have to.

A good place to start is around 30 PSI. Run that for a session and evaluate if you need to go lower or higher.

I recently ran a track day in my Subaru on Continental Extreme contact DWs which are pretty similar tires (My corolla's brake master cylinder failed the day before on track and my rx7 was in pieces...)

I started chalking my tires at running 30 psi, at the end of the day I was around 50 psi front and 40 psi rear...

subarus are pretty front heavy and I was on stock springs and sways so you're results may very... but 30 psi is probably going to be way too low.

bring some chalk to the track and chalk your tires shoulders in a few places, adjust your tires until they're rolling over the right amount so you're using all the tire, but none of the sidewall.


and yes you can track them, they're not ideal, but again, neither are any street tires. they'll be a lot better than all seasons. have fun, and be safe.

Thanks for all the replies. I just couldnt pass up a great deal I got (240 shipped ). Dont have spare wheels so I gotta take these to the track. Im a total noob to track so nit having super tires should be good for me.
