H&R Spacers for 3rd Gens

Does anyone know if H&R makes custom spacers to move the stock 3rd gen wheels out a little more? I called them today and the woman I spoke to said they did not make them because they didn't have the bolt pattern or something. I know spacers for the FD are probably found from measuring and finding whatever will fit and provide the right track spacing. I'm installing some suspension components on my car now and I dont' want the wheels to look as tucked in as they already are stock. The fender lines are so far out from the wheels that it seems as if they're the wrong offset. Has anyone spaced their stock wheels? The spacers don't have to be H&R, I just don't know who else to go with that would be as high in quality.
Thanks,
-Dave

Anyone else?......
Wheel spacers for 3rd gens and stock wheels?

Can anyone chime in and provide info on how the stock wheels look when dropped about 1"-1.25"? Especially at the rear? (I have to admit, they may look a little 'tucked in').
Maybe you don't really need spacers.

Wheel Mate (Volk Racing - sister to Rays) wheels spacers 25mm 5x 114.3: non-hubcentric.

Bought for my FC but I threw them on
my FD to see how close to hubcentric they
were. They fit the FD. How thick do you want them? Dunno but these are what I have.

I would suggest 15mm front and 25mm rear
Crispy, where did you get these Wheel Mate? Any good place with good prices?

MakoDHardie 12-10-03 08:58 PM

Ok, this is what I'm looking for. I need to know where to get those...

I'll be replacing my rear ball joint bushings within the next week and as soon as I get my new sway bars in, I'll be putting everything back on the car. Its up on jack stands right now, but I think I will drop it once before I pull the engine to check the ride height and wheel gap. I may want to go ahead and roll the fenders since I'm running 245's all around and I plan to get wide wheels and tires in the future. Let me know where you can get these.

CrispyRX7 12-11-03 08:01 AM

The 25mm was purchased to fit my FC. It's your call on what you want for an FD. I'm not sure of the avaialbility of other widths. Note that as I mentioned these are NOT hubcentric and require great care when mounting. And presonally I would not recommend using these for any track or drag racing use. These cost $200 for 4 and come in boxes of 2. So figure $100 a pair. I bought them through Rishie on the Forum. Do a search for contact info. I don't have that info handy.

Crispy

I'll see if I can't get in touch with Rishie then. I know he doesn't accept pm's and he's not on much anymore, but I'm interested in the spacers if he's got them.

I was searching around and found this link at Options Auto. These are 15 and 25mm H&R spacers that are cut to fit Ford/Mazda 5 lug sizes. It doesn't include the FD, but it does fit the Ford Probe and a friend of mine has a set of race wheels for his Probe sitting in my garage that fit on my car when I was trying prevent blowing a tire while my new set was being shipped. I know Jay Laub got a set of 15mm H&R spacers, to throw on his car after the widebody conversion, so I know H&R makes a set that fits 3rd gens. Does anybody know more about this?

Yea, those exact spacer is what Calvin uses for his FD to win a Drift Day event.

MakoDHardie 01-13-04 02:33 AM

so those 15 and 25mm that fit 5-lug Ford/Mazda/Toyota/Mitsubishi will fit the FD?

reza 01-13-04 02:36 AM

yea...as long as they are 5x114.3 lug pattern.
Any other place to buy them? I have been looking to get them, but $200 for a set is a bit steep for little piece of metals

MakoDHardie 01-13-04 10:05 AM

I'm sure if you search around a lot, you will find some other vendors that carry them, but unless they're not H&R's, they probably won't be much cheaper. I looked throught he H&R price list and they're pretty expensive to start with. That price is for the pair, so they will be $200 something. Beyond that, you will have to find someone to custom cut them for you. Maybe that would be cheaper.

reza 01-13-04 12:05 PM

I heard of Wheel Mate brand by maker of Volk Racing.
Not sure how much cheaper they are.

MakoDHardie 01-13-04 02:28 PM

CrispyRX7 got those through Rishie. I sent him an email and was never able to get a hold of him. They were $200 for a set as well, and probably more expensive if you could find them at an online vendor. I would assume that they'd be a perfect fit if bought for the FD, but I'm not sure about how hubcentric the spacers would be if they're a general bolt pattern model. At least there's no question on quality with H&R's.

reza 01-13-04 02:38 PM

I was told that H&R studs are not strong. They crack easily. Calvin mention that his cracked about 2 out 5 studs.
Of course he is drifting the car which puts a lot of side to side pressure on studs.

MakoDHardie 01-13-04 03:00 PM

Actually, the spacers may not come with the studs. I'm assuming you just get a set of stock studs and install them in the spacer itself if its a large enough size. The 5mm spacers don't matter, but the 25mm may bolt directly to the hub and then the studs are reinstalled in the spacer itself.
