Ground Control/Koni Install Help

So l lowered the car after installing Ground Control and Koni setup and the front was real low on my FD, even with the collar ring all the way at the top. I pulled it out to double check where i had the c-ring on the Koni's and it was at the top. Looking inside the sleeves (picture), the inner stop (black doughnut) looks like it was pushed up evidenced by the scuff marks on the inside of the sleeve. Before i contact GC, anyone know if this is normal or not and if it's normal why they sit so low. I was thinking about flipping the sleeve, but not sure what holds the inner stop.

Springs are Eibach 0600.250.0500. Could that be part of the problem? To short of a spring (6")

i would call GC and ask. not sure what that inner thing is, usually they try to get the sleeve to sit on the C clip directly, and then optionally you can have something in there to keep the sleeve from moving, if desired.

if the sleeve is fine, a longer spring will raise it.

The "inner thing" is what rests on the shock c-clip and is what holds the sleeve/coil up. It appears the only thing holding it in is friction. I mic'd the upper and lower sleeve diameters and they are about 5 mils different (upper is smaller) so essentially it's wedged in there. Now, I'm worried more about it failing (the force of the car eventually forcing the "inner thing" out)than the ride height. Since there a lot of these setups out there, I assume it's reliable, but it still doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy. I have a call into GC so I'll see what they say.

That tube is supposed to look that, the insert is tight fit up to the step (that you can't see).

The tube drops way down over the Koni spring clip, just so that the car can get low enough. It is weird that your car is TOO low, because 6 inch 500 is probably the most requested spring for the front of an FD.

Are your front tires really fat?

Send pics to support@Ground-Control.com, and I'm sure they can figure it out really quickly.

They are currently stock. Unfortunately, i did not measure the height before i jacked it back up again, but i'm guessing around 25 with the sleeve collar ring all the way up. This is probably where i want it, but there's no room to adjust. The picture shows about a 1.5 in btwn the top of the sleeve and the top of the shock cartridge. The rears have only about 1/4" btwn the two and their height is 26-3/4 with the sleeve collar near the bottom (about 1.5 in from the bottom). My thinking is the fronts and rear sleeves got reversed so it looks like another long night dealing with rework.

Did you ever solve this issue? I have the exact same problem on my gc/koni setup; max front ride height is like 25.25". I haven't had a chance to remove the suspension and check things out yet, but would be interested to know if it really was just an install mistake (f/r swap) on the sleeves.

the koni sport shock requires a special gc sleeve with a machined lip on the inside. even though the sleeve may be specific for the chassis, it also needs to be specific for the shock. as far as i know, the gc sleeve only has a special model for the koni sport shocks.

I did. The sleeves were wrong. I contacted GC and they sent sleeves that allowed a higher max height.

There is no machined lip as far as I can tell. They are slightly conical which wedges the inner stop collar
